Bro that’s not right because he was already on $350k a season before he even played a game and they didn’t even have any intentions for him to play this season.well recruited and re-signed by the Roosters but talk was 3-4 weeks ago that Walker would be re-signed on $300K a season, not $500K... they have to lose somebody
how much did we sign burton, because i would assume he would have been in the same boatWhy the fuck would he re-sign for 500k when most clubs would offer him much more and the Brisbane teams would offer him a fortune?
Clearly he's being paid under the table. If the NRL approve this deal it shows how corrupt the league is.
Ash Taylor showed less and he signed for 1.2 million. Dylan Brown signed for 600k before he played FG. Sualli signed for 500k before he played FG. Yet Walker looks like one of the best halves in years and he re-signs without going on the open market to start a bidding war? Yeah right.. What a rort as usual..
For about the same amount. But that was after only two FG games. If we were to try and sign him now he'd be worth 650k or more.how much did we sign burton, because i would assume he would have been in the same boat
Burton isn't in the same boat, he has been applying his trade in the lower grades and wasn't a rep star unlike walker who is 4 years his junior and been a rep star and a stand out right through out the low grades. Burton is now coming into his own where as Sam has been outstanding every game since his debut.how much did we sign burton, because i would assume he would have been in the same boat
He probably is. It's just that only a portion of that is listed on the salary cap.If Walker tested the market right now, he'd easily get offers of 800k from teams desperate for a halfback like Brisbane, North Qld, etc.
He should be paid according to his market value.
So we recruit him, develop him and re-sign him and it's a rort? lolWhy the fuck would he re-sign for 500k when most clubs would offer him much more and the Brisbane teams would offer him a fortune?

He’s going to be driving a Bentley around that he bought for a bargain from City Ford. Some guy called Sonny bill traded it in at the end of last year. He said it had bad juju which explains the heavily discounted price that Sam Walker was able to get.Why the fuck would he re-sign for 500k when most clubs would offer him much more and the Brisbane teams would offer him a fortune?

The point is other clubs would have paid at least 200-300k more for Walker. Why would he sign for 300k less unless it was being made up in other ways? You alluded to how it's made up with Uncle Nick's influence. So we recruit him, develop him and re-sign him and it's a rort? lol
If you want to know why Sam Walker signed for only two years at @500K for the Roosters, it's because multi billionaire and club chairman Nick Politis personally handled the negotiations, flew Sam's dad down and included him in those negotiations, presented not only the contract, but a plan to develop this kid into the future as we want him forever.
If you want to know why Adam Reynolds signed with the Broncos for less than what he was offered at the Sharks, it's because the Sharks sent the head of football operations to negotiate with Reynolds, he initially low balled him only for the Sharks to realise their mistake and up the ante.
Professionalism is a major difference between good clubs and shit ones.
You mentioned Ash Taylor, he is a prime example of what happens when young players take money over career development. Walker will probably end up the highest paid player in the game, but only if he develops as a marquee player and he's not that yet.
Maybe Walker isn't money hungry like most players. Maybe he thinks he hasn't earnt his big payday yet. He will win a GF before some of the others on huge coin. Why the fuck would he re-sign for 500k when most clubs would offer him much more and the Brisbane teams would offer him a fortune?

I'm not saying he should leave the Roosters. I always assumed he'd re-sign because they don't lose players like him. But he can still re-sign with them for what he's worth. Why would he just forfeit 300k a year and give the Roosters a discount?Maybe Walker isn't money hungry like most players. Maybe he thinks he hasn't earnt his big payday yet.
