SYDNEY CLUB CIRCLES HAAS

The Roosters are reportedly “very interested” in Payne Haas and there’s some scary parallels between his contract situation and an ex-Rooster.

Haas is signed to the Broncos until the end of 2024. But he is currently locked in a contract dispute with his ex-manager, Chris Orr and if he wins the legal battle his contract could be null and void.

This would open the door for the Roosters to strike, according to News Corp’s Phil Rothfield.

“Payne Haas is an identical story to Sonny Billy Williams in 2008 at the Bulldogs, which is a huge concern for the Broncos,” Rothfield told Sky Sports Radio’s Big Sports Breakfast.

“Sonny Bill was managed by the Orr brothers, Payne Haas is managed by the Orr brothers. At the time Sonny Bill walked out on the Bulldogs in that well-publicised incident to play in Europe because he wasn’t happy with his contract at the Bulldogs. Khoder Nasser took over Sonny Bill’s contract at that time.

“Payne Haas has left the Orr brothers, Khoder Nasser has stepped in as has Sonny Bill Williams as his Adviser.”

“He’s not happy with his contract. He was on $548,000 with the Broncos, put him onto the open market and he’d be on $1 million a year so that’s got to be sorted out.

“I keep hearing the Roosters are very, very interested in him. He’s still under contract with the Broncos for another three years but will that be declared null and void if he wins this case against the Orr brothers? It’s a really interesting story with Haas and his future at the Broncos.”

As one of the best props in the game, Haas would demand a starting spot at any club. The Roosters currently boast the likes of Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Siosiua Taukeiaho and Lindsay Collins as prop options but 33-year-old Waerea-Hargreaves comes off contract at the end of 2023 and Taukeiaho has been linked to the Super League for next season.

Fuck the Roosters, Nasser and Uncle Nick.

Hope we can compete with the Roosters in the player market in a couple of years time.

Rothfield is comparing Payne Haas with $BW?

This is surely a gee up right? What’s the point in having fully guaranteed contracts if these guys are always trying to leave halfway through? Clubs and players should just honour their contracts. It’s so frustrating as a fan seeing articles like this

It’s absolute BS when players do this, however it happening to the broncos is probably very deserved after the amount of players that got home sick

Let me see if I have this right, he's on $548k at the Donkeys and his (depending on a court case) Manager thinks he can get $1m but we all know he will sign with the Chooks for $300k (for some obscure bullshit reason).

Always a Bulldog

However, The Courier Mail has revealed Haas received a pay rise in April bumping up his salary from $550,000 to $750,000. That upgrade makes him the highest-paid forward at the club.

If they get Haas on top of Cheese going in 23 then I think they will win 2 comps by the end of 2027.

And if he got injured and was out for the year it would only be fair if he didn’t get paid right? Can’t have it both ways

They're getting their moneys worth re-hashing the same story about Haas over and over again.

things are about to get interesting at the nags, there is more than just payne hass that wants out, kevvie is a coach under extreme pressure, there's not a lot of harmony amongst the players

Signing with the Roosters for "500k" needs to leave asap for "personal reasons" if the court case doesn't go his way
This is where the NRL need to have a rule where the top money offer is only valid. Maybe 10% leeway would be available for the club they debuted with who could still match the offer by paying the extra 10% outside the cap. Fucking sick of hearing this bulllsjit where players supposedly accept 40% less because uncle nicks cock is smooth up their ass or some such reason.

Is that what the R stands for in NRL? National Rooster’s League. Where they pick from every club who they want ?

The NRL should step in and say if you dont honour the balance of your contract, we cannot ratify any new contract for at least 50% of the time remaing.

So if he has 3 years to run on his Broncos contract, NRL cannot ratify any new contract for 1.5 years. He can cop a payount fine too.

Same thing that happened with SBW.

Haas can piss off and go play union for a while. If he thinks he come back and have same effect as SBW, he's dreaming. SBW was a once in generation player.

They'll probably get Fifita too when he comes off contract. LOL. Every player decent player they lose they replace with an upgrade. It's a f..king joke whether they do it illegally or legally. They're getting an advantage through their connections with the big end of town. When they can sign players for less on the cap than other teams it's cheating. However they do it it's still cheating. It's why i hate them more than any other team. If Matt Burton proves a superstar for us and Keary retires because of concussion who will they be after and probably get ? YES then we'll all be f..king spewing.

When they get "all" the players they really really want how is that a fair comp ?
