Official Rnd 15 vs Souths @ Accor Sun 15th June 4pm

I hate origin. Life seems so depressing when the Doggies are not due to play!
It’s why we should stop the season for a month. Let’s say June or July. Play heaps of rep footy. Then come back after the break.

Also add another team. Making 20 teams. Pkay 19 rounds everybody play each other once. No byes.

That means that Souths infringed twice & Canterbury got the re-starts 2-0, which does happen every now & then, but as also stated above, the penalty count is ridiculous.

I said in the reddit QLD v NSW thread, the first half was like the Rabbits game after the lighnting break, where Rabbits could do no wrong. Teams are always going to load up on points when field position like that is presented to them constantly.

Lets not forget my new mate Sid, Sid Buzak lol

The theory of this sounds good. However the broadcast rights agreement would be the stumbling block with this.

The game exists because of the money from the broadcast deal. Cutting the season short by 8 weeks would slash the income the game receives dramatically.

I’m all for the 20 team concept. However the way the draw is conceived needs to be fairer. All teams should play each other once each with 19 rounds. NO Byes.

Pause the season for a month and play a full representative program.

Then return with 9 games against the teams you play twice. ( This should also be the same teams you play from round 1-9 in the same order)

Who plays each other twice should be determined by the competition table of the season before. All teams that finish Odds play twice. All teams that finish evens play each other twice.

36 weeks:
19 weeks - Regular Season
4 weeks - Representative football
9 weeks - Regular Season
4 weeks - Finals

Which would see the season start in late February and Finish on the October long weekend as it currently does.

With Perth, PNG(personally not a fan of this one) and another NZ Team. The revenue of the current broadcast deal should be blown out of the water.

Just play origin 3 weeks in a row and get over it.

That way they make their precious money and the comp wont be as affected as it is now.

Only this backyard league ruins their main comp for a money maker.

Unfortunately Ch9 has exclusive live SOO rights, so in those 3 weeks Foxtel/Kayo would have zero live RL games. While CH7 has live AFL. It's never going to happen.

They can have internationals, it's not that hard

I'm, not sure how playing Internationals at the same time as SOO would work? For example do Crichton, To'o, Tino, Leniu, Haas, Luai, Nanai, Hammer, Olakau'atu, Utoikamanu, Koloamatangi etc play SOO or for Tonga/Samoa?

Only Australia, England and New Zealand are Rugby League's Tier 1, which means NZ and England players are the only ones that can't play SOO, everyone else can.
