Official Rnd 15 vs Souths @ Accor Sun 15th June 4pm

Fuck me. Top of the league and ***** on here are still finding things to bitch about?

Of course we can be better.

Of course some selections may not make sense ... to us ...

Who seriously gives a fuck?

Do you lot not remember the last 10 years of misery at the club?

We're fucking winning. Who gives a fuck about the rest?

Enjoy the moment I say!
Players out, worst bench of the year, game suspended, didnt get out of 2nd gear all night and we still got the W.

Job done, on to our next victim.

Sitili/Todd out injured until round 20/19 on NRL site.
It was a story of 2 storms. Pre storm we looked unstoppable. But hopefully not an omen. The storm really got south’s back into the game. The ref almost looked like he got instructions to get souths into a winning position. Maybe they didn’t want burnouts in belmore :p

Wilson is not NRL standard. Hopefully anyone who suggests he is in the team is banned. He can’t tackle anything but the air. Pretty sure all the points came on that side. I always said handy back up. But he isn’t even that. Was bad in reserves last week too with tackling the air.

I think we made a bench error today. We just carried too many smaller players. Who am I to question ciro and his system. But Morrin, Turpin, Taaffe… then having 1 stint Fifita. I feel they came home strong because we didn’t have a way to close out the game. Turpin had a shocker. Costly sin bin. Morrin like usual always plays above his size and was solid. Taaffe….. not sure what the plan was. Unless he was there to cover injury. But yeh. We sort of kept him waiting until the last 10. I was surprised Hopoi was dropped. Definitely could have used him out there today with Fifita only playing 20. But I guess we got the win so can’t complain. Reed was a bit rocks and diamonds. Couple of good plays. But like usual a few little silly things. Think we should have set up for a field goal 10 out (not reeds responsibility) and instead he rockets a pass into Curren’s head Ala giannis Antetokounmpo v James harden from a few years ago. A few times we had them outnumbered on the left but we went right or took a hit up or he went for a scoot from dummy half. Again not his responsibility he just provides the services. It’s the halves job to structure the attack.

In the battle of the halves. First 10-15 sexy was out to prove a point. He looked determined and very unsexton like. Led us around. Looked threatening. Great trick shot for the first try. Few great kicks. A couple of not as great but over all looked on fire. Then was very sexton like after that. Almost faded out of the game. Was more passive. Battle of the halves? First half you give it to sexton. Second neither really stood up. But a few nice touches from Gal, few nice little grubbers. You can tell he is a classy kid. But neither really took control in the second half to keep us ahead. I guess we had less quality ball but still we looked a little headless.

Over all. Tracey….. wow. Lucky he was out there. He might have been the difference. Really got our sets to good starts. Monty was good minus the try at half time. Xerri and kiraz were good. Kikau was very threatening. Looked like a man on a mission. Captains knock. We got away with the points. We kept our position at the top of the ladder. Wasn’t our best performance. But we are minus our best 4 players. We are minus toups. We had a new halves combo. They have never played a min in the halves together. So yeh. Good to get the win. We have the bye then a big test against the panthers. If we have a half against Penrith like we did in the second half I don’t think we get a dub.
Some good points. Very inconsistent performance. We did not cope well with stop start game. Concentration & leadership?
1. Bench - needed another bigger body. Not sure what CC was doing. If we need another 20 min forward, so why not include Hopoi &/or Hughes?
2. Mahoney - ok yeh he makes a number of mistakes but he has a large number of touches & is more involved in each set than most others on the field. But do agree he sent the ball the wrong way a few times costing us points. Agree, more control from our halves Sexton/Galvin needed. Coaches need to work with them on this. For Mahoney it’s probably more about concentration & fatigue making 50+ tackles in the middle each week.
3. Sexton - yes, plays like diamonds for 20 min then often fades in & out, in 5 min bursts……& so did our team. It may be some of the reason, there is noise about him moving on, to open door for Woods/Galvin/ Tia down the track, in the search for more game control & consistency.

After watching our games v Dolphins & now South’s, when missing a few top ranked players in both, none of our 2nd tier Cup players have stood out & clearly demanded to CC, “pick me, pick me”. During each game our team quickly lost momentum & concentration when faced with adverse conditions, decisions or events. IMO Critta’s leadership plays a major positive role in this aspect of our team’s game. To keep winning well, we really need him on the field.
Middles are lost without King when it gets tough.

Some people might get their panties in a twist but it should be

6. Burton
7. Galvin
9. Sexton

If it's a showdown between keeping Sexton or Small Man, Sexton wins all day, every day.
100% if Salmon was fit it would be
Salmon and Mann to rotate at lock and Hayward 9. Mahoney would get axed. Could see Galvin still hold bench spot in this scenario

Exactly.

Job. Done.

Some seem to feel we need to be at our best each and every game.

Finding a win no matter what the circumstances is what makes a champion a ... CHAMPION

Don’t understand why ciraldo continues to pick the dud. Turpins ill discipline and dumb selfish behaviour goes against everything ciraldo is trying to instil in the club.
Using the opportunity in first grade incas of suspensions you just know we will get duded for finals

We definitely got a couple. I remember the Bronx cheer when we finally did.
Yep, i was there.
Ww definitely got 2 or 3 although 2 i think became penalties as we lost the ball with no advantage soon after the 6 again was given

Played good before the storm interruption, after that we struggled, especially with the penalty count, all and all happy with the 2 with so many troops out.

We did some shit things towards the end of the game, but fuck me dead, that referee didn't help at all with all one sided shit as souths were kissed on the dick at times...

How does a team coming 14th/15th magically become so well disciplined against a team sitting at the top for most of the season? I don't understand it, also the stat about souths getting more yardage penalties than 6 again calls was on full show today...
Didn’t Shane Richardson say the other day that the lower teams get ripped by the refs … this has been disproven

Good analysis of the game.

What was it? - seven penalties in a row to Souths? Makes it hard to set our attack when defending all the time.

Galvin shows that he can read the play and change the ball movement if he sees an advantage. He didn't get enough ball to show what he can do, or he got the ball under pressure. Still, he impressed with the way he straightened the attack at times.

Turpin did us no favours getting binned - that cost us points.

Mahoney dragging Gray into the in goal was just plain stupid. Instead of holding them centimetres off their line, they get a clearing kick, then score.

We seem to be guilty of too many high tackles; but I cannot understand how Souths were not inside the ten when they had us down on
our own line. They were tackling players as soon as the dummy half passed the ball.

We need Crichton and Mann if we are to be competitive.

Still, aways good to beat a Wayne Bennett coached team.

Imagine stopping a game over a storm in 2025...

The government is run by tight arses who don't spend on world class facilities or infrastructure and then they moan about a housing crisis
Then get into politics and change things. It isn't as simple as simple people think. I know; I've been there.

Cause they were destroying us on that side and a change needed to Be made. Ciraldo mentioned this in the presser.
Yeah I believe Ciro words were “had to find a way to get Taffe on”

The second half tries to be fair were Kiraz fault but those came after he stuffed his neck
