Sure. Was basically a chance in a starting half role at the beginning of the year. Has been pushed down the pecking order. Still the only game this year where our attack purred was the Sharts game - with Milky at 6.

Has Reynolds vibes about the way he plays except he's not a defensive liability. And thats as a fill in - how good could he be if given time in the job. Is basically a quality pickup for any team in the comp. Kid could be looking at $500k+ for a club thats keen and if he shines in the halves - that money is doubling in no time.

So he's gunna stay as a fill in or being plunked as a 9 by us or take a much bigger spine contract elsewhere? Know what I'd do if I was Milky.

Your optimistic bro.

Hayward is signed til the end of 26 on a good deal for the club. If he kills it next season, he'll be extended and given a nice increase. I'm sure he'd rather stay at a premiership contender than leave.

If he doesn't take his opportunity and his form regresses, then the club will look at other options. Either way it will be an evaluation year for Hayward and the club. There's nothing to worry about with Hayward.

Lets not be naïve. The money Galvin was signed for could have been used to retain these players.

The roster management is blowing up in our faces right now
Not at all. It's actually managing a roster based on future dollars and player performance and capabilities. You can't keep them all. I would have loved to have kept Mahoney, but he is a loose cannon..and continues to be so. Is going to upset the squad?? Possibly.

The worrying thing is we don’t have a gun hooker coming through the grades if Milky flops

Very true. Then again, across the comp there is a massive lack of quality hookers in FG and even less coming through. People talk about a halves crisis in footy and rightly so, but not for behind that is a lack of good hookers.

Stop the fkn Galvin blame game. Mahoney had been given the opportunity to look around long before Galvin was available.
Dumb move imo he is by far our best option at 9. Hayward is not even close. Even worse if they see Turpin as a likely replacement.
If they needed to offload someone should have tapped Burton instead. If he was doing his job would be no need to sign Galvin. Paid a lot more than Mahoney and has had over 3 years to get his shit together and still doesn’t look like a 6.

We need to get used to this. We will lose many more due to the crop of juniors coming through. Parramatta alone took 3 from our NSW Cup team.

I’m happy that Read like Sexton have long term future locked up albeit elsewhere
Sexton's contract is in France on a 2 year deal not so locked up. He needs to kill it there to have any chance to keep his career alive

Its likely these deals were in the works before we signed galvin. Maybe its why we signed him.

Good luck at the cows Mahoney you played good. Will need to make 100 tackles a game up there cause the rest of the joint can’t tackle.

Which is why he can negotiate in November. So just to be clear, your saying when other clubs come throwing money at him in November as a half or utility he's gunna say nah - I'm gunna be super awesome next year making 50-60 tackles a game at 9 and the Dogs who have slowly reduced my game time are gunna pay me big time.

Sure.

Coming first on the ladder, buying a player in Galvin who is a #6 when we already have one of the best #6's in the game. Now, 2 key spine players are leaving. what will motivate them for the finals?

All off-season and at the start of the year, they worked together like brothers and started the season the best we have in decades...for what?

Now I don't want to be hard on Galvin as he is just a kid and he has to look after himself, but my question is to Gus and CC....why? They need to come out with this in the next few days and address these concerns. As loyal fans and members, we at least deserve that. Gus, no smoke and mirrors, just the truth.

I believe we are setting ourselves up for long-term success, but you could have kept the kid in reserves and, if and when Sexton had a few shockers in a row, then promote him. Sexton has not done anything wrong. I think he is playing better.

We need to see a turnaround in the next game or otherwise this will be another season where we scratch our heads and think what could have been.

You make him sound like Andrew Johns. No club is throwing 700k at him in November.

He's come through the grades at the Dogs and now gets the opportunity to establish himself at one position at the club he'd rather stay at and that's building towards a premiership.

I'm sure that's more enticing to him and most players than joining basketcase like the Titans or Tigers.
