Like many clubs the Warriors are pissed at how the Dolphins are doing business, so had a clause he is only to be released to the Broncos.
Its not really the Dolphins fault though, setting up an nrl squad in 12 months would be a tough ask. They should have been given longer or some assistance by the nrl imo

They thought players would be flocking to them with Bennett as coach. Bennett isn't as popular as he thought we was.

Players also want to know who they will be playing with, they missed a lot of marquee targets early on for that reason, now they are left with who is left unsigned.

“Walsh’s Broncos deal will not break the bank. It will not greatly exceed the value of his existing Warriors contract, which is worth around $400,000 a season.”

Dolphins offered him $750k a season over 3 seasons and the NRL will allow the Broncos to sign him for $450k’ish a season for the 3 seasons.

And the Dolphins have gone crying to the NRL.

The Dolphins are reportedly fuming after Reece Walsh snubbed the NRL expansion side to return to the Brisbane Broncos next season in a bombshell move.

It was revealed on Tuesday night Raiders fullback Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad has signed with the Warriors after the New Zealand club granted Walsh a release on compassionate grounds.

Walsh had a further two seasons to go on his contract but the Warriors confirmed on Wednesday the fullback has been granted a “conditional” release that locks out every other club from signing Walsh — other than the Broncos.

Walsh has reportedly turned down a huge offer from Wayne Bennett’s Dolphins, who were “furious” Walsh had been allowed to negotiate exclusively with the Broncos.

Brisbane are expected to land a coup within days by securing Warriors star Reece Walsh after the New Zealand club secured Canberra fullback Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad.
Walsh will quit the club at the end of the season. The NRL’s player movement has heated up with Nicoll-Klokstad being released from the final year of his deal at the Raiders on compassionate grounds to link up with the Warriors from 2023.
Walsh is expected to do granted the same wish as Nicoll-Klokstad’s impending arrival now casts fresh concerns over the playing future of Walsh.
The Warriors are also closing in on Andrew Webster as the club’s long-term coach.
Brisbane are leading the chase to land his signature as they look to bring Walsh back to the club. An announcement is expected this week.
The Dolphins have previously shown an interest in Walsh but it is understood the Broncos are his likely destination.

Walsh has 12 months left of his Warriors contract with an option in his favour for 2024. The fullback was at the centre of a tug-of-war between the Warriors and the Broncos for his signature last year.

He was granted an early release from the Broncos in April last year after originally agreeing to join the Warriors from 2022. The New Zealand club viewed Walsh as their long-term replacement for Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.

But now he seems destined to return to the Broncos having already played 30 games for the Warriors. Walsh was set to make his Origin debut last year but was ruled out on the eve of the game. He missed New Zealand’s homecoming last week because of Covid-19.

The Raiders were reluctant to allow Nicoll-Klokstad out of the final year of his deal but have done so to enable the 26-year-old to return to his family in New Zealand.

Canberra resurrected his career after he signed with the club having played just seven first grade games at the Warriors. It is understood he told his teammates of his move on Tuesday.

Nicoll-Klokstad played a leading part in Canberra’s grand final run in 2019 and made his Kiwi Test debut at the end of that season. He has struggled with injury this year and is locked in a battle for the starting fullback spot with rising star Xaiver Savage. Savage is locked in until the end of the year.

Meanwhile, the Warriors remain in discussions with Panthers assistant Webster to take over coaching at the club from next season.

Webster is the club’s top target having spent two seasons as an assistant coach at the club.
How stupid are the warriors, this kid is going to be a great player and they stupidily let him go, no wonder their failures and will be failures for a long time to come.
And on top of that stupid decision they get klokstad who is very average at best, now their chasing Webster from the Panthers who has proven what as a FG coach? maybe the warriors should just fold and be done with it.

He doesn't want to be there, if it wasn't next year, it'd be the one after.

Quote from Walters stating he is a specialist fullback, suppose Cobbo will be happy with a big pay cheque(I don't recall if the dollars were ever quoted)and a wing spot? Serious fucking backline next year bloody hell.
