Okay before anyone says anything, I know the 2018 season hasn’t even started yet but these are some of my favorite topics to see people’s opinions on especially when you consider that we will have atleast 2.3 million to play with but maybe even up to just under 3 million. And it will be Pays chance to build a squad that he likes, So who would you guys like to see wear the blue and white in 2019?

Some good players that are available are:

Josh Papalii
Aiden Sezer
Junior Paulo
Kane Elgey
Felise Kaufusi
Roger Tuivasa-Sheck
Brock Lamb
Lachlan Coote
Ethan Lowe
Michael Morgan
Justin O’Neil
Josh Mansour
Joesph Manu

Even though we signed Cogger I still included a few half’s in there because you just never know with injuries or with Forans personal issues. Also a lot of this depends on how Mbye goes at Fullback, if he fires then we can focus on other players but if he flops then we have to give everything we have to get RTS.

If Mbye fires and Foran recovers he’s past form then I’d like us to go after;

One of:
1. Joesph Manu
2. Josh Mansour

One of:
1. Papalii
2. Lowe

2019 we could line up with:

1. Mbye
2. Montoya
3. Hopoate
4. Suli/Manu

8. Woods
9. Lichaa
10. Klemmer
11. Jacko
12. RFM
13. Elliot/Papalii

14. Paulo
15. Tolman
16. Elliot/To’omaga
17. Fualalo

Mansour would be such a waste of money, i really hope we don't go after him. Joey Manu would be much better value and he could play at either centre or wing with his skillset.

Manu would probably be my only target at this stage, would like to see how the rest of the squad performs while monitoring the likes of RTS and Elgey.

Holland should be Chase for 2018/19 then hopefully he will retire and forfeit the last year of the ridiculous 3 year extension he was gifted

Hopefully Foran has put these things behind him but if he hasn’t and we need another half then don’t be surprised if Pay goes after Lamb to reunite Lamb/Cogger in the half’s because he coached them together for the junior Nsw team. Also a lot of this depends on how Mbye goes at Fullback, if he fires then we can focus on other players but if he flops then we have to give everything we have to get RTS.

And as well as Junior Paulo because I think Pay likes the type of player he is.

Even after these signing we would have around a million to play with but can just stay in the bank and chase another superstar the year after.
way to much to think about before the 2018 season has kicked off.
I might come back to this thread in August.

I really want to see how a few other things pan out first.

Rumours are that we are going to pursue Mansour. There are a lot of decisions that will be made by the club. Do we offer the Morris boys 2 year deals with the 2nd year in the clubs favour, at a lower rate then what there on now. If they play on we won’t need Mansour, or a strike centre. If they retire mansour will be an option as well as a strike centre. I’d love a big bustling 2nd rower. See how the teams going after 10 rounds and then decided who we want.

Don't forget some young guns will be unearthed this year that might be attractive to us. Crighton was just a promising junior before he had his break out season last year. same will happen this year so it would be useful to keep our powder dry for a few months. Plus, Pay has a seeming policy of developing juniors so he will no doubt focus on our youngsters as well.

It's way too early to be thinking about this type of thing. If Pay has the ability to get the best out of our current squad and give the juniors confidence as they transition from the lower grades to the NRL we may need to spend a lot of the cash we have on hand to upgrade who we have. Let the Roosters and Broncos pay massive bucks on players after they have career best years.Treat our players really well and make them happy to spend the best years of their career here.

If we're performing well with who we have and helping players to improve, I'd prefer to manage the cap by front loading some contracts on our stars and picking the eyes out of the best 18-21 year olds others have to offer where we haven't produced great talent. Save plenty of money from the cap to offer incentive based contracts to any juniors and to potentially upgrade others that step up when they get opportunities. In that way they're not instantly looking to get out of their contracts to chase more money elsewhere if they explode on the scene. To my way of thinking we'll become a club that players would hope to sign with to improve their careers. It's time for the club to go back to being a role model of professionalism like we were when The Bullfrog ran things.

In terms of young players, I’d love us to go after:

Tevita Pangai Jr
Jaydn Su’a
Nat Butcher

I rate all these players really highly and with Pays experience with young players he could really bring the best out of them. Obviously we wouldn’t be able to sign all 3 and if I had to choose 1 then I’d like us to go after Butcher, I can see him being the type of player that can be you’re lock for 10+ years, a leader and player will give you a consistent performance every week. With Critchon moving to the Roosters next season he could see his pathway to the team blocked and fancy a move.

I’d go hard for joey Manu, Mansour next option. Think Suli and either of them replace Morris bros.

I’d go hard for Papalii for Eastwood’s money. We don’t need props with klemmer woods and tolman tualau on books. We need a big body second rower. We had 3 with Pritchard Williams even eastwood earlier. Now Jackson rfm Elliott all smaller guys compared.

Otherwise I’d like a look some kids like butcher and whoever else comes through like
Crichton did the last 2 years. Who
Knows what 18 unearths

I’d also love rts over all but won’t happen by the looks of it so hope Mbye kicks On in The 1.

Would hope we get Cogger for 18 too so we can have a look how he goes if he sucks go all out at Morgan haha

Some on that list are getting old.

Mansour is 28 this year... may as well keep the Morris brothers if that's the line of thinking.

I'd love Joey Manu at the club, but Roosters will pay him $3 million a season to stay with them. Might be better throwing money at Ken Maumalo instead.

1. Mbye
2. Suli
3. Manu / Maumalo
4. Hoppa
5. Montoya

This is a list of players I’d be going hardout for in order of preference:

WFB / CNTR - RTS, Curtis Scott, Joey Manu, Jamayne Isaako.

2RF - Cordner, Tevita Pangai, Papalii, Butcher

In saying that 2018 is going to be a massive proving point for a lot of our current squad and I feel there’s plenty we’re yet to see from them.

Like Lowe but not the type of forward I’m
Saying.

Papalii would fill that big body in the 11-12 for us. We have none in the back row. Jackson, Elliott, rfm.

Fualalo could be but I would like someone to take the Pritchard type roll when we dominated packs. with Eastwood on that money it’s a direct swap.

Klemmer and woods give us gun props

With tolman and tualau we are well served.

Jackson, rfm, Fualalo, Elliot with a Papalii sets us up. I’d also go hard at butcher. Release tolman surely he won’t wanna be a benchie and he could get a go at a few clubs!

Woods, klemmer, jacko, Papalii, butcher

Rfm, tualau, Fualalo, Elliott. Pleaseeee

I don’t rate Maumalo to be honest, he will smash through 4 players and score a try one time and drop the ball the next 7 times.

If Foran's body fails him, im all for signing Elgey. Poor defense at times, but the rest of his game has massive upsides

Difficult to say who we’ll need next year, when we haven’t kicked a ball this year.
