I have a piece of shit captiva that has been plagued by problems for years but as it stands the motor has been stripped .had a new timing belt, new aircon, new radiator , new fuel pump new water pump , new alternator you name it the **** of a thing has had it.
Now im thinking after the greif its caused me I should fukk it off .but by now everything is just about new so instead of buying a new car maybe might tidy this one up a bit.
Its not in bad nick but was wondering as I have no idea about the cost of a respray and reupholster . Any info or suggestions would be appreciated im not a rev head so please speak basic car talk lol

Depends really, instead of getting it reupholstered just replace the broken trim by getting parts from a specialist wrecker (ones who strip cars down and sell them in parts).

As for paint how bad is it? You can get cheap closed door resprays for like 1000$ with little prep work or something proper including fixing up damage and etc but you will be looking at 3k+ especially for larger cars.

Paint can be brought back to love with specific polishes and polishing techniques, but in the end you could use that money spent on parts and etc and spend it on something better like a project cars parts :P

Was thinking going a matte black finish nothing wrong with paint bar a few scratches. In sides in fair condition. Just thinking of the possibility of changing it up a bit .its either that or get a people mover. Just considering my options .

I can get you a fully hektik respray for 800 aha. If you want to get a respray its worth paying decent coin. I helped my mate do a wrap and it came out great.

if you found the right bloke you could get it cleaned up cheap, but don't go telling them you know nothing about cars.

stay away from smash repair places as they will stitch you up big time and do a shit job. Find a painter / shop that isn't committed to insurance jobs, these blokes usually can be found doing restorations and custom jobs. They will also have contacts they use for the upholstery work that they could hook you up with. There's plenty of bodyshops around that would be ideal, I know a few good ones that do jobs like yours at fair rates. I've got a paintshop but I only do graphics and effects. if you needed flames or some flake, kandy, etc I could hook you up.

the other option you have is to do it yourself. find someone like myself that has a booth, give them a carton of beer and i'm sure they would let you cut loose overnight or on a weekend. if your looking to keep it as cheap as possible you could do alot of the prep work like wizzing yourself. choose a dg colour instead of one that requires a clearcoat and you would save more money

Are you familiar with the term " rebirthing" it's an accelerated process of vehicle restoration on a budget.

Re painting the car the same colour, just on the outside and repairing minor dents and chips will cost between $1000-$2000.
Doing a colour change properly (removing engine, trim, seals ect. ) is going to run to at least $6000.
A full show, paint job (ie colour sanding) $15000 easy.

The price of a respray in two pac is high in a modern car, get a dodgy acrylic paint job off some westy in his shed if its a hack car.
Otherwise buy a VS V6 off ebay for 2600 to get around.

Holy shit I done the wrong fukking painting trade lol
nah, it's not as glamorous as it seems. there's a shitstack of work involved in a 15k paintjob. colour sanding is a massive commitment and a big part of that cost, bikes are fun, but cars are a big job
