The media loves to bash us as it leads to media hits/sells papers! The club was ridiculed for buying ‘utilities’ and having a smaller pack, not having a x-factor at fullback, not having a dominant big name halfback.
Yes last night was a bad result. The team was 18-0 in the first half and Brisbane had no clue on breaking the defensive line and the team forced them into errors.
Yes a lot of players playing out of position, but if it comes to a big game (possible semi final) and we have players off with HIA or injuries or sin bins, players will have some experience out of position. Xerri can play on the right. Burton can go to centre Kiraz can go to fullback. Preston can go to centre. Hayward can go to dummy half or in the halves. Galvin can play either.
The team will learn from this that they need to value the ball better. Bench/interchange probably wasn’t used as well as could have been but it’s done now.
Again and I know I go on about it but the inconsistency of officials is an issue and I’m sadly sure a grand final/premiership will be decided by a wrong call
Walters try came from a play the ball that was not struck by the foot.
Brisbane got a six again call that led to a try from a questionable 6 again.
Piggyback penalties given led to broncos tries
Yes we ‘choked’ in the last 15, I feel last week took a lot out of the team with emotion and energy, it’s a tough part of the year for the club and adjusting to having the missing contingent of Crichton, Kiraz, King and Mann to origin (all keys to our success the last 18 months) Tupounia, Salmon and Saluka-Fifita out with injury is tough.
Cirro was not happy with the end result, he won’t throw players under the bus in the open of a press conference or give the media fuel with ‘Well the constant media speculation on contracts and signings has mind f%#ed the side’
Certain journos want to bash us as they have an agenda against Gus/the club.
Trust the process! If someone had told me two years ago we would make the semis in 24 and be in the top four with a bit of a gap to fifth in 25 I would take it. Gus had a ‘five year plan’ that took nearly ten to achieve. Look at the dogs after 3 or so years he has been there when we were a basket case and couldn’t sign players where now players want to play for them
