I got ur back 200% yo.
I make this thread tonight to figure out our backline in 2021.
There are a few unique decisions that I think will need to be made.
lemme explain.
This is how I see thangs just now.
Top backline as predicted of now.
1 averillo
2 JAC
3 Naden
4 Allen
5 Cotric
That is what I believe and what I have noticed the kennel believes what we will field as top squad.
so if you break this down further:
Fullback:
Averillo
Meaney
Wings:
JAC
Cotric
Okenbor
Katoa
Also Meaney
Kinda sorta Allen
centre:
Naden
Allen
Schoupp
Now this the thang.
we all know we need to seriously chase a hooker and prop and even a back rower.
we also know we have splurged on wingers and Allen.
so something has to give here. We need to be frugal with our depth in the backline to have any chance of getting a marquee. We have DWZ money to worry about too as well as three highly paid halves if we get Johnson.
so I am thinking we are going to have to dump a few players to keep lean.
Katoa and Schoupp you’d have to think are min wage and no issue.
You would also have to seriously trust that 600k floppa is gone.
It looks on the surface that we are going to have to choose between
Nick Meaney and Jayden Okenbor.
Both are above min wage.
but they bring two completely different skill sets to the table.
Jayden Has that hard running black muscular metre eating skillset you want from a modern winger.
Yet Meaney is the more versatile skilful player who covers more positions.
of course, if someone takes Allen off our hands, that may not be an issue, but then we have the same problem as this year. We will have no centre depth.
so I really want to hear from y’all how to manage this situation?
because I think this is important. Nasheed.
