Brilliant, criminal sanctions are to follow, I hope they give them maximum terms.
One one hand politicians and anyone working for government have to declare EVERY gift, in some cases even if someone buys them a coffee, but then at the other end we have this stuff. Madness. I note these guys are NSW politicians, but it only strengthens the case for an equivalent federal body.

Crazy that we don't have a Federal ICAC to keep all the ba$tards honest.

Instead atm the one overseer we have in the Auditor General gets his budget cut.

Surprised you hadn't heard about this as it was quite a large corruption case. Fair few State Labor ministers involved in it and some escaped by the skin of their teeth.

But yep, stronger ICAC needed and not one where trials are held behind closed doors.

Is the NSW ICAC a permanent thing now or is it running like a Royal Commission and has an end date?

I've definitely heard of the case. It wasn't as big news in qld as it was down south obviously but Obeid and Mcdonald have been known as crooks for a long time.

I'd have hoped that Barnaby Joyce would have copped a criminal sentence for his role in stealing money via a mates offshore company under the water buyback scheme.

Feds have got a massive protection racket going on mate, scandal after scandal and no consequences

Ex-Labor MP Craig Thomson has been embroiled in an investigation over alleged fraud against the federal government after his home was raided on the NSW Central Coast.
Key points:
  • AFP and Border Force officers searched Mr Thomson's home this morning
  • No charges are understood to have been laid
  • Mr Thomson stole money from the Health Services Union while national secretary from 2002 to 2007
Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Border Force officials pulled up in several unmarked cars on Lakeview Drive at Wamberal early on Wednesday morning.
About 15 officers and detectives spent hours executing a search warrant at the property, where Mr Thomson lives with his wife and three children.
Officers left his two-storey home with several suitcases and bags of evidence.
No charges are understood to have been laid.
An AFP spokesperson said search warrants were executed in NSW and Queensland today.
"This activity is part of an ongoing investigation into a syndicate allegedly defrauding the Australian government," the spokesperson said.
"The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time."
In 2014, Mr Thomson escaped jail time for stealing money from the Health Services Union while national secretary from 2002 to 2007.
Using union credit cards, he spent tens of thousands of dollars on personal expenses, including brothel visits and travel with his wife.
The former federal MP for Dobell was fined $25,000 after being found guilty of 13 theft charges.
He was subsequently suspended from the Labor Party in 2012 and a year later, unsuccessfully ran as an independent in the 2013 election.
There is no suggestion that the current investigation is anyway linked to his previous crimes.
