guess we'll most likely have a 2nd nz team if Perth isn't going to happen now
This is all just talk as nrl wants to squeeze more dosh from the WA government

there's always talented players, but not always talented coaches. I rate BA as a coach, but will he have enough pull to get marquee signings to Perth? That'll be the issue, because they'll need a strong leadership group to really get going. Is there even enough quality players for another team lol?
With a blank cheque from the government and huge tax incentives PNG will have time to be a success. If the systems and coaching are put in place they will have the biggest catchment of talent by far. The fans are fkn lunatics though so will be painful AFthere's always talented players, but not always talented coaches. PNG on the other hand is 100% destined for failure. I think they expect the good PNG players will play for them, but good luck getting Coates out of Melbourne. I honestly think if the PNG team comes in, it'll be a situation where they get pumped almost every weekend, and it will be a slow death for the club.

Can't see the wag wives wanting to live away from family and living behind wire fenced guarded compounds. Money would have to be brilliant.I just don't think I can see it. I mean I can't imagine many players wanting to spend much time in PNG regardless of the money

I think you may have missed the kicker here, if the PNG Gov signs anything with China that the Oz Gov doesn't like then they get kicked out of the NRL.The PNG team is just a political move to be honest, China will offer more money and way better incentives for the PNG to break their agreement with the nrl and Australian government lol

RL is a religion in PNG, if any PNG Gov makes a decision that resulted in them being kicked out of the NRL at the very least they would get voted out at the next election. More likely they would get machetied.

Whether it actually happens or not is irrelevant, the PNG Gov understands the situation, to get into the NRL and then to stay in the NRL they need the Oz Gov to support it. Whether that is moral or financial support doesn't matter. They even so much as think about dealing with China then the threat of being kicked out of the NRL would enrage the RL mad PNG people. They are at the very least voted out at the next election and/or they face their people's revolt. It's hard for us to understand how much RL is ingrained into PNG, it is their National Sport after all.I doubt it's that easy. They can't spend hundreds of millions on this and then just walk away and relocate the franchise after a few years if the PNG government aligns with China suddenly. That would make it an even bigger farce and waste of money.
As great as this sounds as PNG are RL mad, the logistics of this franchise and the gamble the NRL and government are taking is massive. It's a Third World country with dangerous militias, not enough security or hospitals/schools/roads for the locals and a corrupt government that will take money from whoever gives it to them and won't put it back into the community/infrastructure.
I don't see this ending well for the government or the NRL.

Eh, steal a bit here and bit there........................but don't you dare fark with the RL.I know how RL mad they are, but there's been corruption in PNG for decades and billions worth of natural resources that have been not put back into the community and embezzled by officials. I don't think anything will change that, not even an NRL team.
Don't forget the part where the police just come in and clean up bodies when there are tribal warsSeems like a good place to put an NRL team. But hey, as long as the NRL players and their families live in gated communities, who cares about the people getting murdered, kidnapped and raped in the general community?
From ABC News:
A male health worker, an elementary school teacher, their wives, and several school students are among eight people kidnapped by a gang in the village of Adumari.
One student managed to evade the kidnappers and ran to a nearby village, where she is now assisting the police.
Specialist officers were deployed to the region to help bring the hostages back safely.

Once a player gets eaten that's when people will take notice
Good luck getting players going there and living in a compound.
