There is one more thing Read mentioned but hasn't been mentioned here and that's because I suspect you all listened to the Bulldog story only. If you listen to both stories (Dogs and Tigers), when they started talking about either Maguire or Brooks staying, Read said that one would have to go and he thinks Brooks is the likely and then he said "talk about half-backs, Flapagain is another that is looking at the exit door". When Read was asked if Brooks might end up at the Dogs, he said "it's a possibility but they would need to clear up a fair bit of cap space....Raiders are another club that need a half"

Fuck Brooks....wouldn't give him over $450K if he was to come. He's on $900K over there, and has done fuck all!!
Happy about Flap-again shown the door if true!

It's all kind of commonsense, players on overs who aren't offering near enough. We could have Naden on the wing and Averillo at centre on the same $$$ Cotric is on and we're probably no worse off. Allan is on like 350k next season? Lol. Just shambles..
And who is playing to their potential? How can u judge players like Cotric and @Allen playing in a shit teams....we desperately need to fix our halves situation more than the hooker position

What do u mean juniors only first grade not juniors our junior leagues are playing better then us
Well if they are that good then why hasnt Barrett started blooding them and kicking out the absolute failures we have in 1st grade. It was clear by Round 8 that it was a another dud year and Barrett has persisted with players that should not have been in 1st grade. All we have done for the last year is go further backwards so why didn't he use it as an opportunity to debut more junior players that actually had potential. The lunatics are running the asylum so lets once again applaud Phil and urge him to gut this fish clean.

Maybe poach a Horsbrugh?
Maybe another edge backrower for value (not Kikau - too expensive)

Elliot needs to be SACKED

ease salary cap pressure while fielding the worst FG squad in the entire comp... and by a distance... in terms of wasting money, that is talent --> 'Housewives of Belmore!"

We aren’t. Just being portrayed as we are so teams don’t make us overpay players.
No....we are in need of letting go players to ensure we have room for appropriate cap space for spine players. Elliot and Cotric in particular are on overs commensurate to what they bring to the team and are to be shopped. Elliot is aware of this...hence his form slump. So too Thompson, hence his nonchalant attitude in some very poor defensive efforts when Knights were making breaks and he didn't push across to cover the space.
It's just bad luck for the playing group. Next year is a big reset. In 3 years time I doubt any players currently playing for the Dogs this year will still be there....bar maybe Schoup.

Thompson has had that inability or lack of commitment to push across in defence since he arrived - as good as he can be with the ball his defence needs work.

True, but that just opens up other issues. They should just scrap the rule, the only reason it was brought in was because the Roosters abused it in the past.
Scrapping that rule just means teams saving up salary cap for 2 years by signing on average, say, 20 x $120k players on 1 year contracts plus 10 quality players on $550k average for 3 years. They would then have $11.5m to spend in year 3 to win a premiership, that will fit 5 strike players on $800k each average plus their 10 quality players in the last of their 3 years. Rinse and repeat, that way you can win a premiership every 3 years. Do the maths yourself, it's simple.

It's relatively easy to rort, no harder than complying with the Cap currently. The reason why the rule was introduced still applies now, teams will rort it and some will do it outrageously, run a substandard 18 to 30 for 2 or 3 years, save up the cap space and then pay the $big for strike players to win a premiership, then do it again in 3 or 4 year cycles.

Always a Bulldog

If Elliot cap money is freed up and any or all of Flanagan Wakeham Stimson Allan as well - nice windfall to buy some genuine or potentially genuine footy players

It’s not a rule it’s an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement that had nothing to do with The Roosters and everything to do with Players Association.

It’s part of the EBA between The NRL and the players union.

Remember players wages aren’t payed by the clubs money it’s The NRL’s money granted to the clubs. The NRL has an EBA with the RLPA that their members (players) get a cut of revenue per year.

Which is payed through the SC, hence there’s a minimum spend.
