Believed to be Travis Burns on a 2 year deal. Should be announce sometime today.

Good signing.

PENRITH have signed former Manly and North Queensland playmaker Travis Burns, taking their number of off-season signings for the 2010 NRL season to five.

Burns has agreed a two-year deal and Panthers chief executive Michael Leary said he was delighted to have secured the services of the 25-year-old Queenslander.

"Travis is a specialist five-eighth and brings great experience to our halves. His recruitment bolsters an area where we have been particularly lean in past seasons," said Leary.

Burns joined the Cowboys in 2007 after making his first grade debut for Manly in 2005.

Penrith have already added Wests Tigers forward Daine Laurie, Parramatta hooker Kevin Kingston and Canberra pair Nigel Plum and Adrian Purtell to their ranks for the new campaign.

You know you're struggling when Grant Rovelli becomes the preferred option.

very good signing, jarrod sammut should be worried.
travis burns is consistant all season, sammut is way to hot and cold, he lets the panthers down to often

He hasnt played all that well for the Cowboys.

He'll upset precious Wade Graham who I would now expect will try to get to melbourne again.

Burns is useless. All he is good for is aggression. And do you really need that in a 5/8th? He has no kicking or passing game and gives away at least 2 stupid penalties a game.

He got beaten out by Grant Rovelli for the 5/8th spot in Nth Qld and by Jamie Lyon at Manly. Now he's been let go again. That should indicate something right there.

Meh....it's Travis Burns...

Then again, maybe we will have a 5/8 that will do more than show and take the line.

Good signing ?

This guy is the biggest dud of a five eight going around right now.

The guy above summed it up when he said you have to be pretty crap to lose your spot to Grant Rovelli. FFS even Thurston could not make him look good.

I can't see why Penrith wouldnt persist with Walsh + Graham, they are young, need to give them a chance.

I laughed my arse off at the "good signing" bit. Anyone who thinks Burns is a good signing hasn't watched the cowboys in years. Certified dud.

He defends well. He's always up there in terms of one on one tackles. He's not sht but he's not good. He's average.

I wouldn't call him a dud, he's sh1tloads better than holdsworth. He's not flash but he's solid. The penrith team is so bloddy erratic, a steady head in the halves will be good for them.
