Gould and others saying to remove the second ref are missing the point of the secod ref.

Nothing the NRL has broguht in officiating wise has ever been "to better the game", but rather "to better the result". The more officiating and strange rules you bring into the game, the easier it is to tinker with a game to get a desired result.

Just think about... and think about other sports. How many of the changes to rules and officiating are either in other sports, or how many rule changes actually benefit the game...

Hes right about the second ref. Purely based on the fact that having them has not improved anything.

Still prefer my childhood era. 1 ref. No video ref. A lot of shit would have been missed sure, but we didn't know any better so didnt complain about refs much.
