So the greatest thing for our club this year is to see how good our junior system is going and the fact that we are unlocking these great young players, is such a good thing?

But is it really???

We’ve spent soo much time and money on our youth to only see them leave to go to another club. We are salary cap stricken till 2021. Whoever we produce, we will definitely lose to cashed up Clubs willing to pay the money we cant...

Not only have we lost all our first graders but we will be losing our next gen of great players too....

This club will take minimum 5years to recoup. We are effed !!!!!!

Pay should have realised their potential earlier on in the season when they stood tall during the trials.

He didn’t have the confidence to back them with the exception of Marshall-King. I personally thought Lewis was in front of him when factoring in trial form.

But in saying that, he has at least given the younger guys a go at some point, something his predecessor didn’t do.

On salary cap, one day, there will be law suits on coaches for failure of duty of care regarding these sorts of situations. Des has left the club in absolute tatters. Our marketability, memberships, merchandising etc. will all take a hefty hit for ar least 2-3 years during a rebuild... yet coaches like Des walk away scott free??

Nothing wrong with Pays decision with Lewis. Firstly the top 30 was decided before the trials. And Lewis wasnt in it. Why he wasnt in the 30 was you have to play a million dollar recruit over a junior with no fg experience.

I think you are forgetting that Des bought him not Pay. There was not much Pay could do unless try to move Foran on and who in their right mind would buy Foran for the price he was. If Dogs offerred to pay some of the price for another club to take him, the kennel would be going into meltdown as there was a number of people on this site who wanted him and thought he would come good. If he was sold with dogs paying for him before being tested this year, you would all still be calling for Pay’s head. I’m no Pay supporter but playing Foran over Lewis can’t be put on him but simply on one man; Des Hasler.

Im not dumb, i know despot bought Foran, but I'm commentating on that pay should of covered himself knowing Foran is broken AND the other half options realistically are a forced option.

Pay is going to have to prove he can bring out the best in the "gems" he's signed. Players like Cogger, Meaney and Crichton which don't really look like gems atm.

Sorry mate, but i think you are way off point eith this post.
First of all, we have spent fuck all on juniors over the Des Hasler reign. In fact quite the opposite!!! Des neglected our junior leagues so badly that im surprised that we have any decent young players coming through at all.. in 2012 we were minor premiers in all 3 top grades. That was the year des took over. Now our juniors are overall pretty crap.
Pay is making all the right moves by recruiting youngsters. Even if they dont become stars they have at least been bought on small contracts, unlike the duds on overpriced contracts in their mid 20s that Des bought.
Even the new board have stated that their main focus is getting our juniors back to where they were so that we can bring our youngsters through the grades with a passion to play for our beloved bulldogs.

Second of all, we didnt lose our frst grade players to other clubs, we got rid of them because they were overpaid and were hampering our ability to build a more well balanced roster. Mbye was playing no where near as good as his salary suggested he should have been playing, and woods had been pretty average and was an overpaid prop we should not of bought in the first place. We should have spent his money on a prominent half to play alongside foran.

Lastly, i dont think it will take anywhere near 5 years for us to rebuild. Im hoping we will be top 8 next year, but realistically it may be 2020 before we challenge for the title again.

Agree, it's not good enough to say this kid was in the NSW under 20 origin side (seems to be a few signing where we use that). Plenty of kids kill it in lower grades that can't make it in NRL.

No excuse whatsoever for not having your backup reserve grade No.7 in your 30 man squad.

Especially when you are pinning all your hopes on a physical and physologically scarred player who was unable to finish his past 3/4? seasons.

Then there was only JMK, Nu Brown and Frawley for the other halves spot. And even then 2 of them were meant to be hooker.

Pay relied on Frawley and Foran to be our halves for the 2018 season.

Pretty uninspiring coaching forward planning not to add your reserve grade 7, (who showed a lot of ability and promise also last year) to your Top 30 at the start of the year, under all those curcumstances with Frawley and Foran IMO. Done now so we move on but ...Pay fell short with planning there in that important position.

You are such a pessimist. You are wrong. We are cap compliant for 2019. The only reason we are releasing players is to be able to buy an experienced and capable NRL player. So don't be so negative. Your minimum 5 years to get back on track is laughable. We will be competive in 2019.

Mate you are a deadset idiot. First of all yes you we did lose all our first grade players, and they didnt leave for more money, they left for less lol. Our club is a shambles. Idiots like you that turn shit into cake, to make yourself feel better is what runs the club down to the dirt. Hence why we overpaid those duds to keep them. We didn’t get rid of them because they overpaid, we got rid of them because we got no money in cap to spend.Point is it doesn’t matter who we produce, we cant keep them unles they are overpaid and over pay or even compete at paying a player is something we cant challenge till 2021!!! Key word, and get it right mate, we cant keep these players at our club unles they overpaid. Our club is a shambles .....

No we wont.
We will be under the cap(just) so we dont get fined hence cap compliant. We cant sign anyone in great demand because we got no room in our cap. We are cap compliant till 2021(just). What makes you think we can sign anyone? We camt even sign tim mannah for 2020 if we wanted . Theres no room in our cap
