Suspended 2 games and fined $25k.

Parramatta Eels Club has fined Peni Terepo $25,000 and suspended him for two matches (already served) of the 2019 NRL Telstra Premiership for an alcohol related incident that happened earlier this month. The Club reached its decision following discussions with the NRL Integrity Unit and the RLPA.

In addition, Peni has agreed to an alcohol management plan and the Club will continue to provide him welfare and support.

Peni has demonstrated genuine remorse for his actions and the Club is working closely with him to ensure he has a clear understanding of his personal responsibilities.

Terepo later admitted that he had been drinking before the incident, but his club only found out about the conviction via media reports three weeks later.

Peni Terepo has become the latest Parramatta player to run into trouble off the field after failing to inform the club he was convicted of careless driving in New Zealand.

Terepo pleaded guilty to careless driving and refusing to give a blood test in Auckland District court following an incident on January 8. The court heard Terepo, who was thrown through the windscreen, refused to provide a blood-alcohol test. He was fined $500, ordered to pay $130 in court costs and disqualified from driving for seven months.

The Tongan international did not inform the club of the incident, with officials only learning the news via a report from The New Zealand Herald. The development threatens Terepo's future at the blue and golds.

"The club is extremely disappointed with Peni's behaviour and we regard what's taken place as extremely serious," said Parramatta CEO Bernie Gurr,

"Upon learning of Peni's conviction, we have immediately alerted the NRL Integrity Unity this morning and emphasised that no club official was aware of this incident.

"Peni has been stood down from all official club duties effective immediately and will also not be considered for selection in our Auckland Nines squad."

It has been a difficult preseason for Terepo. The Parramatta prop made his boxing debut on the undercard of the Paul Gallen-Junior Paulo fight in December. His opponent, David Tuliloa, took the fight on two weeks' notice but still managed to knock Terepo out.

After enduring a season of scandal headlined by the salary cap debacle, Eels players continue to make headlines for the wrong reasons. Fellow forward Kenny Edwards has been charged with domestic violence offences, the latest in a long line of off-field incidents. Winger Semi Radradra, who is also facing domestic violence charges, recently revealed he will leave the club at the end of the season for French rugby
