The NRL's operations manual states: “Trainers must not at any time enter the line of sight of a player when he is attempting a kick for goal, or do anything which may in any way unnecessarily interfere with or distract an opposition player whilst he is participating in the match or constitute some disadvantage to the opposing team.”
What is going on with this? Not the first time their club has done this, although not in first grade. Few seasons ago Wenty their feeder club was in trouble for the same thing for an incident at Belmore during a NSW Cup game where they did it not once but twice.
In a similar vein in our game against the Bears a few weeks ago at ACCOR their "blue shirt" was sitting on the bench earnestly listening through the ear piece to obvious instructions from coach Jason Taylor. He then ran onto the field when the game was in balance, without a water bottle or towel etc. and stood behind their line directing them around the field. He was on the field for quite some time a few sets in fact and nothing was said by any of the onfield or sideline officials...
The new rules regarding how many times and under what circumstances these trainers can enter the field of play were changed to stop these things happening.
