The SG Ball Panthers scored an impressive 40-12 trial match victory over Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Windsor Sports Complex on Saturday.

The Panthers piled on ten tries as Luke Hanson and Bayden Moran bagged doubles, whilst Kamoe Fekitoa dominated in attack, making multiple line breaks.

It was Fekitoa who opened the scoring for the Panthers in the 6th minute - the beneficiary of a flick pass from Hanson.

Three minutes later Fekitoa turned provider, setting up winger Sam Lane in the corner to put Penrith ahead 8-0.

The Panthers were well in control and after gaining a penalty off a tackle break from Fekitoa, a shift to the edge allowed Moran to cross out wide.

However the Bulldogs suddenly hit back, finding a hole in the Panthers defensive line to make the score 12-4.

Their joy was short-lived though as a slick pass from Zac Hunter allowed Moran to slip through for his second try in the 29th minute.

Isaiya Katoa was next to cash in for the Panthers, with a strong kick chase resulting in another try just before the break.

HALF TIME: PANTHERS 20 – BULLDOGS 4

The Panthers continued their commanding form after half-time, with Fekitoa linking up with Angelis Hotere-Papalii to make significant metres.

Luron Patea was forced to make a try-saving tackle in the 50th minute as the Bulldogs desperately attempted to put themselves in the contest.

But a try by Hunter in the corner continued the procession, before Fletcher Haycock stepped his way through, flicked a pass to Hotere-Papalii, who offloaded for Hanson to score and make it 28-0.

Panthers halfback Mitchell Chester touched down in the 60th minute and this was soon followed by a try to Riley Wake.

A late surge of three tries from the Bulldogs added some respectability to the scoreboard, as the Panthers got some valuable practise defending repeat sets on their line.

However it was the Panthers who had the final say, with Hanson claiming his double on the end of a length-of-the-field effort and an offload by Moustafa Dirani.

I’m lead to believe the dogs kids training up did not play or only sparingly as training with 20s and first grade. Hopefully when they return will add to the team. Riff are about as good as there going to play in juniors but. So it lets the young fellas know where there at

Ball is 19s now? I’m assuming Matt’s 17s? Is Flegg 21s? A lot has changed since I was a jnr.
Only changed in the last year or so due to a whole age group of kids missing out due to covid

They probably have another 2 teams of the same age that would belt us too. They have a wealth of talent to draw from. They can keep developing them though, so we can keep signing them
