Apparently been going since 3PM.

SERT (Special Emergency Response Team) - Qlds equivalent of the Tactical Response Group/State Protection Group is on the scene taking over command and trying to ascertain best way to resolve it.

Claimed armed gunman is holed up in holiday accommodation at Headland Gardens, and is negotiating via a mystery tradie, and has threatened to start shooting if police don't stay away.

During his escape with the girls body in a barrel, he has been reported to be armed with at least a shotgun.

..

Time to put the SERT snipers training to good use and drop this sack of shit once and for all.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5899861/Police-close-location-man-wanted-disappearance-teenage-girl-Larissa-Beilby.html

Officers wielding large firearms are positioned on the roof of the apartment block where Zlatko Sikorsky is currently contained by police, who have warned the siege could go 'all night'.

Specialist police have been attempting to negotiate with the 34-year-old from his unit on Juan Street in Alexandra Headland on Queensland's Sunshine Coast since about 3pm.

Detectives looking for missing teen Larissa Beilby, 16, found a body now believed to be her, stuffed inside the barrel in the back of a ute, understood to have been dumped by Sikorsky, near Brisbane on Wednesday.

A middle aged tradesman wearing orange hi-vis, whose identity is unknown at this stage, is on the scene assisting police with their efforts.

Queensland Police Superintendent Darryl Johnson confirmed he was helping police but refused to confirm his identity.

The man walked into the police enclosure shortly after 9.10pm, escorted by an officer.

A witness said they heard a man saying they would 'shoot if they come near' at the unit complex Friday afternoon, Nine News reported.

Police established an exclusion zone from the neighbouring streets, Alex Parade, Mary Street, Mayfield Street and William Street and declared an emergency situation.

Residents have been warned to stay inside and people have been asked to stay away from the area.

Those unable to get inside their homes because of road closures have been told to find alternate accommodation for the night.

A a mobile command centre has been set up by police on scene to handle the seige.

Superintendent Johnson told reporters Sikorsky was 'contained' about 5pm: 'We're negotiating and we're hoping we'll come out with a successful resolution,' he said.

'We're hoping to resolve the situation peacefully. We're happy that we've got the person. We're quite comfortable we've got the situation contained.'

A witness in one of the neighbouring units said about 2.15pm they heard a man arguing with what sounded like a woman accompanied by children, Courier Mail reported.

They said a woman and child left the complex about 3pm, shortly before police arrived.

Another witness said he could hear a man making demands and requesting to speak to his father and girlfriend.

'He hasn't walked outside to the balcony, I can clearly hear him, he wants to speak to his girlfriend and father,' the witness said.

'I believe he's on the phone to a negotiator.'

People living nearby are filming police officers surrounding the Headland Gardens apartment block on Juan Street and sharing videos to social media.

The Special Emergency Response Team is crawling through yards at the unit block and using police drones.

'Residents located inside the declared area are asked to remain indoors and members of the public are asked to avoid the area,' a police spokesperson said.

'The man is believed to be alone inside the unit.'

A woman living nearby posted to Twitter saying someone had been 'escorted out of her apartment by heavily armed police. She can hear screams'.

Headland Gardens is a block of 27 self-contained units offering 'spacious resort-style holiday complexes'.

Initial searches for Sikorsky centred on Logan and the Gold Coast.

BACK STORY

Before she disappeared, Larissa, 16, had been in her final year of high school, but hadn't been attending classes, according to friends.

She reportedly told those close to her she feared convicted criminal Sikorsky, the man suspected of dumping the ute, would discover her real age. She also told friends he had a gun.

Larissa, whose friends affectionately call 'Riss', met and began a relationship with Sikorsky while living in transitional accommodation where she was seeking refuge from another violent man.

On June 15, she walked out of the family home she shared with her father, sister and brother after a disagreement, Seven News reported.

Larissa's life had been marked by tragedy, with her mother Karen dying when she was just four in 2006 in South Australia.

The three young children wrote a powerful tribute to their mother, who died at just 32.

'To a mother with endless love who has made us who we are. We love and miss you and will never forget who you are,' the tribute read.

'We love you now and always, mum.'

Karen's husband, Peter, said his 'heart and soul are broken' following his wife's death.

The funeral notice asked attendees to donate to the Heart Foundation in lieu of flowers. The family later moved to Queensland.

Detectives believe the suspect switched vehicles after dumping the ute and is now driving a silver Holden Commodore with the registration 966WKB.

A Queensland Police spokesman said Sikorsky, who has tattoos around his neck, 'may able to assist with their active inquiries into the case'.

Members of the public have been warned not to approach Sikorsky, who may be armed.

'At this stage we believe he may present a risk to the public... we have information that he has access to firearms,' Logan Detective Acting Inspector Scott Furlong said on Thursday.

Sikorsky's father told The Courier-Mail his son was a 'decent person'.

It is understood detectives know the identity of the victim, but are yet to release a name.

Before the body was found, a Facebook post by Larissa's sister Deanna, 20, showed a picture of the missing teenager.

'She hasn't been on social media for a week which is very weird for her, no-one has seen her since 15th of June,' she captioned the photo.

When she stopped using social media three days later, alarm bells started to ring.

The manhunt for Sikorsky began when police attended a home in Buccan, south of Brisbane, at around 1.30pm on Wednesday. They were looking for Larissa.

A man, who police believe was Sikorsky, fled the home in black ute, before detectives tracked it the Stapylton gated community, where it was dumped.

Didn't parliament pass, or will pass, a law letting the Army take over situations like this?

Right now I think it only relates to terrorist incidents. I believe they are trying to expand it to all hostage situations though.

Following the updates here: https://www.sunshinecoastdaily.com....cops-swarm-as-body-in-a-barrel-kille/3455154/

Pretty cool how he was tracked down: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ance-Larissa-Beilby-16-gets-visit-father.html

18 hours and the siege continues. It does not appear he has any hostages, but has begged police not to shoot him.

Everyone but the neighbours on either side are evacuated from the apartment block.

HiVis dude has been confirmed as the guys father, and he also spoke to an unknown woman last night. Father was unable to convince him to come out.

I think SERT are doing the old "waiting game". You can't stay awake forever, and with FLIR (heat detection) cameras, and a range of other gadgets at their disposal, thye'll just wait it out until he falls asleep and then act I reckon. Though seprating his head from his body would be the ideal resolution, it won't help the tenant who lives in the apartment.

If SERT are unable to handle the situation I believe they can call in the Army for assistance (both operational and feet on the ground).

Problem is that (as far as I'm aware), all Aus Army Commandos are stationed in Williamstown or Holdsworthy (Fuck yeah NSW), or out of the ACT.

UPDATE 1PM: A resident living directly across from the apartment in which Zlatko Sikorsky is holed up in says the wanted man is becoming frustrated.
The resident told the Daily that earlier today negotiations were advancing and it appeared as if a peaceful resolution was imminent.
However, he said it appeared as if the tone of the talks had deteriorated. He said residents were being escorted in and out of the emergency zone by police but that had come to a sudden halt.
He said he could hear Sikorsky yelling and saying "that's all I ever wanted". That came after he said police had told him "they were getting somewhere with him". "But might be back to the drawing board?" he said.

Sleep deprivation = aggrevation = rash decisions. Sounds like something is going to happen soon.

I can't see this ending without someone getting shot or blowing their head off.

Why is the term spokesperson used when a male is the “spokesman” but when a female is the speaker it’s reported as spokeswoman. Ridiculous

Still ongoing... surely shit's gonna happen soon... Timeframe is a tad longer than that of Lindt Siege at the moment (with no hostages).

Some media are reporting rubbish by people sending anything in, but it can't last too long.

Wouldn't be suprised if police have FLIR thermal cameras on the unit and are keeping an eye on his movements. If he nods off or remains stationary for any period of time, I'd be thinking they'll go in.

Problem is if he has nothing to lose, and knows he'll be lucky to survive a full prison term, then he may attempt to shoot his way out or go suicide by cop.

Guy who rents the unit (and the landlord) are probably hoping the roof doesn't get painted red either.

UPDATE 5PM: Stubborn. Determined. Desperate. Whatever the case, Zlatko Sikorsky is refusing to yield to the dozens of heavily armed police officers who have him cornered in a unit complex in Alexandra Headland.
The tense siege that has gripped the seaside suburb since it started at 3.30pm yesterday has now entered its second night.
He entered the unit early Friday morning with a friend of its tenant and has not left since, despite long, exhaustive negotiations and the presence of at times 40 police officers.
Today's events within the exclusion zone have been largely sedate. Residents have photographed and videoed moments of high drama - police with military-style firearms stalking the unit complex, dogs barking and yelling.
But mainly it has been a waiting game, with police determined for a peaceful resolution to the siege.
At the edge of the exclusion zone, the most drama occurred when an unidentified man was searched by police and taken away in a marked patrol car.
Some residents have been evacuated, voicing their frustrations to a slowly dwindling media contingent waiting for the moment police finally make a long-awaited breakthrough.
There seemed no immediate sense of urgency among police officers on the edge of the exclusion zone, suggesting a long night may be ahead.

...

Cops playing the waiting game is a smart move. Either he'll fall asleep or start getting hungry.

Sounds like this bloke doesn't want to shoot himself.... yet... unfortunately.

Probably hoping that the residents get the shits and pressure the police into action.

...

One thing I've often wondered... these police units are heavily armed, but apart from a bulletproof vest and a helmet, they have little protection from a weapon at close range :|

Queensland's most wanted man, 'body in the barrel' fugitive Zlatko Sikorsky, has surrendered after a 28-hour siege.

The 34-year-old murder suspect gave himself up about 6.30pm on Saturday to heavily-armed officers investigating the disappearance of Larissa Beilby, 16.

Detectives looking for the teenager found a body in a barrel stashed in the back of a stolen utility truck on Wednesday.

Superintendent at Queensland Police Service Darryl Johnson spoke with the media and confirmed the Sunshine Coast siege had ended.

'The police have done a fantastic job over the last 26 to 28 hours here at Alexandra Headland,' he said. 'I'd just like to thank the people in the vicinity of Alexandra Headlands for their patience and understanding of what we’ve been through. It was important to give our negotiators the time and space to help us resolve this peacefully – and I am relieved that we have been able to take this man into custody without him, any member of the public or any of our officers being hurt,' Superintendent Johnson said.

Queensland Police also confirmed with Daily Mail Australia that a 40-year-old Palmwoods woman who brought Sikorsky to Maroochydore has been charged with being an accessory to murder.
The unnamed woman faced the Maroochydore Magistrates Court where she was charged and remanded in custody.
She will reappear in the Maroochydore court again on July 2.

That tenant that claimed "a friend brought him over" (in the link above) has been charged with accessory to murder. Same guy that gave an interview claiming to know nothing about it LOL.
