We will have to see. Hopefully avo does get a crack at fb. Might need to work on his communication though. Baz said fb is more than just having speed they need to communicate from the back. If avo can sort all that out he should get first crack at the back
Yes he has plenty to work on and could still be a major flop, but from a purely offensive perspective he does look exciting @ fullback. I'm happy to play him at either 1 or 6.

Yeah it's been a while since we had an exciting attacking player at fullback. Hopefully he kills it for us.

Personally I can't see both BSmith and Grant staying with Melbourne;
  1. They both want to be Melbourne's hooker, long term.
  2. They both can't be Melbourne's hooker, short or long term.
  3. They both want to be representative (SOO, Oz and NZ respectively) hookers.
  4. It's hard to win representative honours in a specialised position if you are not playing/demonstrating it week in week out.
  5. They are both currently grossly underpaid.
  6. They both want NRL hooker value contracts, long term.
  7. They both (plenty of players want but they actually) deserve hooker value contracts, long term.
  8. Next year is Bellamy's last year as head coach (according to Bellamy).
Go Dogs
Cam Smith has basically come out and said he won't be playing at the Storm next year as it'd cost the Storm Grant (has a clause in his contract and will receive offers close to 1m a season elsewhere) or Brandon Smith. I think that almost rules out Grant unless he pushes for a release due to the difference in pay anyways (we know Storm don't like releasing players under contract unless receiving something in exchange that they want and Grant will be one of the best hookers for the next 10 years so there's just no way). There's no way Brandon Smith can play hooker at the Storm so I think we should be going hard out for him. I honestly thought he'd be our number one priority this transfer window. I know he's under contract but similar to Burton he'll get to play his preferred position here and he'll be making almost twice as much money (about that, maybe more even, not sure what he's on, but it isn't a lot).

I am aware of who he is but I've never really noticed him before since I don't watch Manly or Titans games so I have no opinion of him. Baz said he wants speed in the backline so I assume he's quick.

TBH I just want it to be a done deal as that means Dexter35 was right which hopefully means the spine player we've already signed is Burton. On top of that if we do get a top hooker in 22, we'll make the top 4 and (sports) life will be good again.
Kelly was really good under Barrett in 2018. The Titans offered him a contract he couldn't really refuse. Last year was a pretty disappointing year for him and there were signs he was going out the back door. This year Holbrook has turned him back into the player he was in 2018 and I think he went close to one of the best centres in the game, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure he was voted in the top two centres from the players (which I was surprised to see, but recognition from the players means more than anything).

Do you know if we have actually signed Brian Kelly or are we still negotiating with him?
He must be the outside back that Dexter35 mentioned we had already signed
Didn't he come out yesterday saying titans should sign James Roberts... Maybe he's like bruh get my replacement ready

PANTHERS PICKED APART BY RIVALS
Story James Hooper

The Penrith Panthers have quickly discovered the price of success with the club’s young gun roster being picked apart by rival NRL clubs since making the grand final.

Young gun rookie Daine Laurie is the latest player who has agreed to depart the club to join the Wests Tigers in 2022.

We all know how this rodeo goes. Laurie will now begin the process of agitating for a release to join the Wests Tigers for next year.

It doesn’t end there, either. Rookie prop Spencer Leniu and young gun five-eighth Matt Burton are both believed to be extremely close to agreeing to terms to join the Bulldogs.

Both will be immense losses.

Then throw in NSW Blues trio Jarome Luai, Stephen Crichton and Isaah Yeo all being off contract at the end of next year and all of a sudden the Panthers plan to retain everyone looks in serious trouble.

Perhaps the smarter play would have been to lock Luai in when they decided he was the best five-eighth ahead of Burton mid-season.
