Official NSW vs Qld under 19s BREAKING!!!

Haven't seen much from Woods tonight that fills me with any confidence that he'll be a NRL gun one day.

I think he’s been good. Solid kicking game, looks to be a strong running threat and wants to be involved in everything. Very active in defence as well

He did put on a nice pass for the second last try... hasn't played bad at all.. I guess I just had high hopes that he would dominate with how much he's been talked up

A lot of the time they were just taking away his options and rushing them. I think he needs to develop his double pump pass or something to hold that defense in check to catch those guys out so they run past the support players or hold off on rushing the his options. Things he will work on in NSW Cup for the rest of the year. I thought Wishart played better than him, and he had those options in his kit bag. But Wishart has been playing NSW Cup and is learning to add these things, and he will in time.
 
re O Smith - how he played tonight - the good runs n effort plays in defence is how he performed in SGBall in pretty much every game - very consistent from one game to the next - not a one off - seems to carry defenders for extra yardage every run. Not sure how he is playing in Flegg. IMO the u19s game was a higher standard than previous years - IMO Woods showed some class n toughness but maybe ran the ball a little too often - Rinakamas yardage carries were v good - only the one error - i would have expected Latu Finau would have been selected if not for injury.
 
Wood is obviously a very talented footballer
Last night he also showed he is tough - he was prepared to put his body on the line.
Last nights game was really high quality, particularly in relation to the athleticism and aggression displayed by the forward packs. There were at least 3 guys in each team who could hold their own in the NRL right now.
I can’t wait to see how he develops over the next 2 seasons - behind the pack we are building he will excel.
He copped a head knock in the first half and shook it off and we saw from his reaction to being replaced late in the game the guy is a real competitor. These are the things you can’t teach - when it comes to skill he has the goods.

Give him a pre-season or two and watch him go ......

I’ve never seen an NRL player, let alone a kid show that much annoyance with having to get a hia. It shows how committed he is, how filthy he was having to miss the end of the game and who knows, he could have helped them get over the line if he was on the field.

He needs a couple preseason's and a bit of time in the NSW Cup and he will be ready.
 
I think people are going in too hard on Woods. Saw some very positive signs.
Willing to take on the line. His decision making there will improve. I believe he got to the try line for the disallowed try so was unlucky not to bag one
His ball playing was pretty good. Set up one try and if the centre did not touch the ball, Rinimakava was away with support on the inside for a try. Great cut out ball
Kicking was pretty good but maybe needs to strengthen to enable kicking in the wind.
Was in control of the team which fell apart once he went off for a HIA

ppl want him to play NRL yesterday lol, yes he is years away

sexton
hayward
galvin in front of him

Unless they clean out players and move him up
