Just a reminder that Napa is on about the same coin as Luke Keary.

TLDR

Blake Ferguson
Club: Eels
SALARY: $500,000
Took a $200,000 pay rise to leave the Sydney Roosters and a premiership winning team to set up his career in a three-year deal worth $1.6 million at Parramatta which expires at the end of 2021. Also had interest from the Cronulla Sharks and the Canterbury Bulldogs but their offers were worth around $400,000 less over the three years.

Apisai Koroisau
Club: Panthers
SALARY: $500,000
In the eyes of many, Koroisau is the 2020 buy-of-the-season. Back at Penrith after stints at Souths - where he won the premiership - and Manly, the outstanding dummy-half chose to return to Penrith over Canterbury because of his close relationship with assistant coach Trent Barrett. Such has been his dominance this year, he's been worth every cent of his current contract.

Dallin Watene-Zelezniak
Club: Bulldogs
SALARY: $550,000
With an ambition to play fullback - and enjoy the financial fruits that come with the position as opposed to wing - DWZ moved to Canterbury from Penrith on the promise of the no.1 jumper in June 2019. The former New Zealand captain also had interest from the Eels, Wests Tigers and Cowboys, which enabled him to drive up his asking price. But with only two tries in 20 matches and the increasing thought his best position is indeed on the wing, this could quickly develop into a poor purchase by the Dogs. me to another level.

Dale Finucane
Club: Storm
SALARY: $550,000
Melbourne Storm football manager Frank Ponissi received a phone call from former Bulldogs coach Des Hasler in the 2015 off-season. Hasler was under salary cap pressure and had to offload a forward. He offered up Dale Finucane. Storm had chased him when he was a Holden Cup player and couldn't believe their luck. Not only did they sign a forward who would go on to play State of Origin but the Bulldogs paid half his salary for the first two years.

Aaron Woods
Club: Sharks
SALARY: $600,000
2020 is the first season that Cronulla are paying the Test forward's entire salary after the Bulldogs contributed last year. Playing the most consistent football of his career with an average of over 130-metres per game, Woods' experience, go-forward and ball-play has proven more than valuable at a time of need for the Sharks.

Dylan Napa
Club: Bulldogs
SALARY: $650,000
Let go by the Roosters with one year still remaining on his contract, Napa joined Canterbury in 2019 as a direct replacement for David Klemmer, who had signed with Newcastle. Napa's healthy salary at the Dogs is arguably more than what other clubs would be willing to pay for him, but ultimately he's the beneficiary of a Canterbury club who, at the time, were willing to pay for a solution on the field and in the eyes of disgruntled supporters, following Klemmer's exit.

I was surprised we didn't go for Taukeiaho, with the Roosters offering close to 700k to extend him, it makes a bit more sense now. Not sure about time frame, but that could be a similar reason to signing Napa over AFB.
We sure got dudded on paying out all those players. Schiiiisk.

Dwz and Napa on ridiculous money
I reckon they would be about right too. When we extended DWZ it was definitely on fullback money. He was playing pretty well at fullback for us and just after he extended remember that's when we knocked back Mitchell after he was saying he wanted to play fullback because as far as we were concerned we already had our fullback. We were pretty desperate at the time we signed Napa too - to replace Klemmer. Next contract DWZ should be around 250-300K and Napa about 200 - 250K but I'm sure they will just happen to lift their performances the year their contract is expiring. We should shed Napa and sign Addin Fonua-Blake for 650k. I'd really like to know how much Hopa, Jackson and Tolman are on. It wouldn't surprise me if the 3 of them are on more than 600K each a season - what a joke

Parra spending over 2 million on positions 2-5 lol.
‘actually it’s less , did you read the summary for Waqa Blake , the riff are paying half the contract for the entire period .

now the next line is for all the Gould fanboys who jizz over him and want him to come in some capacity to help the dogs .

Blake’s FINAL year is $800k ( riff paying half)
800k for Waqa Blake they fuckin serious
You all hammer des about signings and cost of players , Gould is a space cadet next to him

interesting to read Radley is on a backended deal at the Roosters. If they're doing backended deals that could explain a lot and hopefully it will catch up with them one day like it did with us and they'll come crashing down

So Gus made a couple mistakes with a few extensions. 800k for a centre is silly, I can't defend that. Even with the huge wraps Gus had on Blake. Even after moving a couple of players on they're now a top four team. RCG has also moved onto the Eels and he's playing up to his price tag now (which shows that was a coach or environment, etc. problem). It's almost impossible to get everything right (we're not going to get everything right). Go through the rest of their roster. I'd take Gus in a heartbeat.

If you look at the roosters squad you wouldn't be able.to name many players outside the top 17 or so. They would spend their cash on their top 17 or so players and the rest on minimum wage. Meanwhile the dogs have 6 or 7 backrowers on 1st grade money. Paying blokes like meaney and crighton 200 to 300k is a waste. Rather spend big on qual ity 1st graders and have the rest of the squad made up of developing players.

Yes but des and dib was following the Gus way and they get hammered for the cap situation , he gets players has them on overs on later years and tried to ship them off before contract is up (except Cleary got rid of them earlier ). He did it with Merrion , Maloney , Soward and many more .

the only thing Gus did at riff was save them from bankruptcy, he did not wave a magic wand and gets credit for their juniors , they have always produced juniors on mass.

coaches he sacked more than anyone and now basically criticises clubs for getting rid of coaches, he got rid of a coach that had team in top 4, got rid of their current coach to get that same coach in and don’t forget he didn’t want cleary he wanted Bennett , look at Souths they are doing “great” with Bennett with a stacked roster and pulling power to get anyone they want

Dib and Castle's time isn't comparable. Penrith didn't try to play to a higher salary cap. We did and that's why we're in this mess. I think Penrith are reaping the rewards of Gould's time there now. I think Bennett is overrated.
