We have to be favourites. Money's about the same.

TIGERS
David Klemmer: Well known f..king moody sook and couldn't make the NSW team because of it
Coaching staff: Choice number 2 after they couldn't get the current Dogs coach. Tim Sheens - hasn't coached NRL in how many years ? Benji Marshall - no experience as a coach. He'll really improve his game under these two NOT !
Partnered with Brooks again who has been shit for years - so more pressure on Moses to get results
They have a history of bad management decisions, players rejecting them, new players making jokes about them, having second thoughts after signing contracts, etc. They seriously thought the Eels might release Moses a year early when they want to keep him forever F..KING LOL !!!!!!! That place is like amateur hour
What were the reasons he left to go to the Eels again ? Do any of those problems still exist ?

DOGS
Ciraldo (rejected Tigers) - most sought after new coach in the last 10 years. Just helped the team who won the comp.
JAC (rejected Tigers) - best personality in the NRL. Makes work fun. The complete opposite to Klemmer
Reed Mahoney - mate and used to his style of play in the spine. Will get good familiar service from dummy half
Partnered with rising star in Burton who will take pressure off him especially with his long kicking game
We now have one of the top trainers / conditioners in the NRL who'll get him in top shape
More good players to arrive like Crichton, Xerri, and hopefully Leniu
Gets to play with the most damaging ball runner in the comp in Kikau. Will make Moses look good
He's Lebanese - Belmore is the place to be to be with his cousins - half of which he didn't even know existed
Phil Gould - one of the smartest brains in rugby league
Arthur Laundy - happy to mentor him on life after footy - investing in pubs (mini casinos)
Greater chance of winning a comp in the next few years or he may never get the chance.
Dogs rebuild is First Class. Tigers is Economy

Here's his former buddy after finding out the Dogs no longer wanted him

Quit talking up the Tigers. They're more like cargo class than economy.

Moses still in Parra's lane: Gus
Daily TelegraphDean Ritchie · 09 Dec 2022, 12:00 AM

DOOR AJAR BUT CANTERBURY supremo Phil Gould has opened up about his club's link to Mitch Moses, saying the star playmaker was not "looking outside Parramatta for his next playing contract". Gould did admit Moses would be a target if he left the Eels, declaring: "I'd hope the Bulldogs are a club he would consider." It comes on a day when Canterbury released Corey Allan from the final season of his contract to sign a one-year deal with Sydney Roosters. DEAN RITCHIE REPORTS PAGE 94 CANTERBURY general manager of football Phil Gould has opened up about his club's link to Mitch Moses, saying the star playmaker was not "looking outside Parramatta for his next playing contract". Gould did admit Moses would be a target if he left the Eels, declaring: "I'd hope the Bulldogs are a club he would consider." Rugby league's rumour mill has cranked into top gear over Moses, with speculation increasing he would quit Parramatta for either Wests Tigers or Canterbury. It comes on a day when Canterbury released Corey Allan from the final season of his contract to sign a one-year deal with the Sydney Roosters. Moses, who has another season to run on his Eels deal, will demand at least $1m a year probably more on the open market. Gould stressed his club was not actively chasing Moses but was playing the waiting game. It was the same successful tactic Gould used to lure head coach Cameron Ciraldo to Belmore. In a text message about Moses to The Daily Telegraph, Gould wrote: "To put things simply, I'm not going to be confirming or denying rumour after rumour about player signings. It's ridiculous. "We don't actively look to recruit players from other clubs. "If a player makes the decision he wants to leave his club, or that decision has been made for him by his club, then the manager or player usually contact us and we proceed from there. "That's been the case with every player I have recruited to the Bulldogs. "In this case, neither the player nor his manager has indicated that Mitchell is looking outside Parramatta for his next playing contract. If Mitchell decides, for whatever reason, he'd like a change of clubs, then I'd hope the Bulldogs are a club he would consider. "However, as stated, there has been no indication that is the case." Wests Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe would not discuss his club's interest in Moses. "We won't make any public comments about recruitment or retention that's an internal matter," Pascoe said. Despite still being on a mandatory break after the Rugby League World Cup, Moses popped into Parramatta's Kellyville headquarters this week to catch up with head coach Brad Arthur. The Eels claim to have tabled a strong offer, believed to span four years, and insist that Moses is happy with his football. One theory suggests Wests Tigers could blow away their rivals with an offer for Moses which might reach $1.4m a year. There was speculation on Thursday that Allan's exit from Canterbury may free up some additional money for Penrith's Stephen Crichton. Penrith is aware of the difficulties in re-signing Crichton given the club's red-hot roster. Crichton wants to remain at Penrith to play alongside close mates Brian To'o and Jarome Luai but also knows he can secure a larger contract by leaving. Penrith hopes to formally retain To'o early next week before then focusing on Crichton. Sources close to Penrith claim the club's salary cap is "getting really tight". I read somewhere else that we haven't even made Mitchell an offer. If true that's f..king ridiculous seriously.

I know it's the job of a manager to call "all" the clubs but with high profile players like this maybe some managers think because it's all over the media if a club is interested they will be the ones to reach out first. Maybe the manager hasn't contacted us because Mitchell frankly isn't that interested in playing for us. The other problem is I read that Gus and Moses' manager are not on speaking terms.

Yes I know people will say Gus is telling porkies but why lie about it ? - why deny when he could simply say nothing ?

Waiting for the phone to ring is akin to what we joke Lynne Anderson used to do

If Gus fails to get either Moses or George Williams for 2024 then his stubbornness has failed us in my opinion

Maybe this is why we still don't have a decent number 7 - because we don't call them but everyone else does. I think I read Barrett reached out to Flano though LOL

Well it doesn’t sound ideal but it sounds like we are still a chance. Gus wants him or his manager to come to us?

Well, based on Gus history with us, if he says we haven’t approach Mitch then it means we have approach him lol
If he is dealing with Moses manager though why would he want to get on his bad side by saying this. He is basically criticising the manager saying he's not doing his job (claiming he hasn't contacted us on behalf of Moses). That doesn't look great for the manager when other players (prospective clients) read it. No player manager can afford negative publicity. Maybe it's a ploy by Gould trying to get the manager to contact him

What are you talking about? Gus is holding a giant cheque book and Moses' manager wants a piece of it.
Zero reasons for Gus to inflate the asking price here.
If we can get Moses for a price we want to pay, then so be it. If not, no worries.
Absolutely no reason to pay a surcharge for his manager's hurt ego - we just don't care.

This is Gus deflecting. It’s probably Khoury, Ciraldo and Warburton dealing with Mitchel Moses and his manager, while Gus focuses on development and pathways

This is how Gus operates. He loves to fuck with the media and I love it.
Wouldn't be surprised if Moses was announced early next week

Nicely played Mr Gould, what he is saying is we are not getting into a bidding war for Moses (or any other player for that matter). If a player wants to come and play for us then he is more than willing and able to talk to them. But the first step is they have to want to come here, the attraction is not how much we have offered them. If they don't want to come and play for us then we don't want them. If they are only attracted by money, then we don't want them.

Always a Bulldog

Do we want players at the club that are only here for the money, or do we want players that want to be a Bulldog, want to be part of the team win games and eventually a premiership …

Reading between the lines I think the club and Gus are saying we’re not getting into a price war, if his preference is to stay at Parra we won’t be helping his manager push up his price …. If he wants to go to the Tigers we’re not helping push up his price there either ..

If he wants to be a Bulldog we’ve let it be known we’d be interested and if thats truely the case pick up the phone and let’s discuss it and get it done ..

Gus is a smart operator … he’s club first, team second, player 3rd .. it’s useless having Moses here just because we were the highest bidder, how’s that worked out for other clubs ….

I agree with you 100%, how many times have we been stung by players chasing a pay day, they are here to make money in the end but I'm sick of the poor character recruiting side of it, we can learn from Bellamy as he rarely gets it wrong.

Paying big coin and getting lacklustre perform, I trust Gus to make the right calls if anyone can.

Really?? Reality is that 99% of players are looking for a payday. It’s not like we can sell them on our recent dominance. All we have to sell them on, is the history of success and in general. Third longest continuous run of an NRL club? Gus, Ciraldo, the other good players we’ve signed in recent years and the general positive vibe around the club are our only selling points, so who cares if they want a big offer? Apparently Tigers are offering way more anyway, so if that’s true, we won’t get him if it’s only about money.

I'm not sure he wasn't telling the literal truth. I always had the feeling that a deal had been done for a new coach before Barrett was punted. When Ciraldo was announced, the background story was than Gus had originally recruited him to Penrith to mentor the younger players in about 2012 (I think), and the two of them had been close ever since. Gus left Penrith because the board went over his head and re-appointed Cleary Senior. Apparently, his plan was for Wayne Bennett to coach the Panthers in the short term, then for Ciraldo to take over.
