ennis is obviously required but there was no real plan for when mbye ran out of gas

6-6 we were looking back into the match, mbye was finished and souths went on a rampage up the middle, scored a try and then we pulled mbye with basically no option at hooker for the next set and they continued to destroy us up the middle and got the 14-6 lead

should have had maitua or something solid to go to off the bench

Doesn't help when the halves provide no direction, Hodkinson absolutely bottled it tonight and became a passenger

Was always going to be tough losing Ennis, we have no specialist hooker as back up. Much different to 2004 when we basically had firepower all over the field and Price as good as he was, was just a prop that we had covered.

Had we lost Jackson or Finucane or hell even Pritchard we probably would've been fine.

Outcoached and outmuscled. Ennis wouldn't have made a difference out there.

Lichaa has huges shoes to fill tbh. Will be interesting. Unless something else happens in our 1,6,7 we just don't have enough to go the next step. It was a good finals serious overall, we won three hard matches in a row but we just don't posses that little bit extra required to win a GF

yes he would have he is 80 minutes of machine, we would have at least matched it all night, watch it again the dogs went downhill right when mbye got tired and was walking and then after he got taken off

not knocking mbye, its a tough ask to go 80

Josh Reynolds kicks were nothing, Hodkinson was the biggest passenger, Mbye showed/gave nothing.....

He was obviously Injured like most our side and was there to make up the numbers
can't expect renyolds to run the game plan and Moses looked lost in attack we really needed ennis tonight I really under estimated how much he does in attack

Ennis was a loss but come on our half back played crap on this biggest day of his carrer. If you cant step up then ....when will he??

Mbye was always going to have issues going the full 80 - the last NSW cup match was on 30 August. Mbye was a big gamble by Des and it didn't pay off. Agree that Maitua would have been more beneficial on the bench. Maybe we would still have the same result but we would have given ourselves a chance. Also a big issue that the NSW cup hooker is Cook, we need a decent back-up for 7 and 9.

Didn't help that Reynolds had to do all the kicking in the first half too. I can see some pain in the first half of 2015 until Lichaa gets used to things.

Last tackle options were terrible, as was ruck organisation and general passing. We needed Mick, Mbye didn't work and Maitua should have been there. Proud of the effort boys but they were too strong. Just when we were gaining any momentum it was killed by stoppages. As for hooker options, Lichaa better live up to expectations cause I don't like the fact Ennis is leaving now. Damien Cook is rubbish. I hate his face.

On a positive note, how good was Mbye at Hooker? He proved me wrong to be honest.

I think Hodkinson was suffering from a knee injury that no one talked about. All the "will he or wont he" hype about Ennis's fractured foot was a smoke screen that didn't work.

Actually Rod there was no plan at all for first grade standard replacements for any where in the backline or for the hooker. IMO Noel Cleal, the recruitment guru, has let us down since 2012.

yeah look at 54.00 for a precise moment when mbye started to get tired

eastwood, pritchard, klemmer, graham in the middle, you need some glue amongst them to hold it together aka ennis or a fresh maitua for 15 minutes

i guess thats what you get when you have such a player like ennis, he plays 80 so there is no back up plan usually

Can't fault your logic at all. Ennis was missed from the start and when Mbye started gassing it all just unravelled.

The media circle jerk will go on and on and there will be another post grand final boom in South Sydney jerseys just like there was a pre grand final boom. I foresee a long off season.

Long live the doggies and I can only hope the pain of this inspires a great 2015 season.

As for now. I might take a long nap. Wake me when there's cricket.

Even if he didn't start Maitua, he should've benched Maitua in favour of Browne atleast that would give us a utility instead of 4 forwards without a single ball player there.

Agree with the Zilla, from then we couldn't convert opportunities. Then we put Mbye back on but the damage was already done, it was duct taping a crack, it was never going to hold.
