A no brainer for me. If he isn’t at fullback he’s out of the team for me as he’s gonna get crunched up in most other positions

If he has a reason for what we see as stupid selections. He should just explain them to us from now on

Probably won’t be there for long anyway if Okunbor makes a successful return from injury

Those first few posts remind me of someone posting on Facebook.

Not first grade standard.

Nick will be crunched in all positions. He has all the natural ability required to be a very good player. However, stating the obvious until he can bring the necessary physicality to his game he will not reach his potential.

Great to see Patten featured on throwback Thursday - a great role model for Nick

I have also been impressed with DWZ’s aggressive all round game - maybe Pay wants Meaney to see what it takes to play fullback up close!

All fullbacks in the game witnessed a master class last night

This is what I'm thinking. Learn from DWZ, then DWZ can move into centres, and Meaney to fullback.

He's got potential but he lacks body weight.

His body weight is fine he actually has 10kgs on someone like Ryan Papenhuyzen.

I'm not convinced it's body weight
Meaney 187 cm 90 kgs
Compared to Cook 180 cm 88 kgs
Or a real midget Dufty 179 cm 83 kgs
The current benchmark Tedesco 184 cm 95 kgs
The previous benchmark Slater 178 cm 89 kgs
A gangly heavyweight TTrbjovevic 194 cm 102 kgs

I'm more inclined to go with a lack of power, not enough grunt, needs more muscle.

Go Dogs

I think he's there for his Goalkicking at the moment. The last 3 Sharks games will tell you how important having a goal-kicker is these days.

I'd like to think once Holland pulls up okay after his Reserve Grade game this weekend, it'll be a case of Holland coming into the centres to replace Montoya and Okunbar coming in for Meaney.

He needs more intent - he needs to just go for it and use his athleticism

Jury is still out in terms of attacking instinct

He has demonstrated courage under the high ball which is critical

Well the warning signs came from the highlights video of his debut season: https://www.bulldogs.com.au/news/2018/10/17/new-recruit-highlights-nick-meaney/

I always said he was a "meh" signing.

Yeah he just lacks punch and aggression. Seems like he's afraid to put his body on the line and is almost too timid.

Add in lacking the ability to back up in most capacity, or inject himself into our attacking line.

Part of that comes down to Pay not coaching him properly and playing to his talents.
