You can’t compare the two when you don’t know the value of the contracts.
Yes you can. Both are senior players who have played representative football. If Newcastle wants them badly they can pay the full freight. Pearce was on a decent sized contract regardless and the Knights have been quite open about the fact they had a lot of room to move cap wise

Sorry bad test and I am surprised you can't see it.

KEY differences:

- Pearce wanted by TWO clubs
- Clubs know that doggies need to clear cap and desperate
- Woods overpriced

The difference is Manly and Knights both wanted him and he has runs on the board (top HB outside of origin). Proof in the pudding he immediately transformed the Knights and as soon as he is injured, the Knights suffer.

Other clubs know that the dogs are over, its all over media and even addressed by our CEO. A smart operator will take advantage of this fact and get Wood for a reasonable price with the dogs footing the remainder. Win win.

Dogs will get bent over on this transaction.
We have already moved on Mbye after the CEO said we were cap compliant. We shouldn’t need to move Woods to be cap compliant. Woods would be an improvement on any of the props they have and if they want him theylll have to pay.

How do you know what Pearce was on the Roosters cap? Woods value would have dropped aswell he’s no longer an origin prop. There’s so many variables that we have no idea about that makes it impossible to judge.

The only way id release Woods is if we sign a superstar halve with his money thats it. Otherwise no deal. Im talking signing Wippod Norman Munster someone along these lines. Otherwise theres no point on releasing him.

We may be cap compliant but we still need to fill rest of roster and also future plan. Woods makes it hard. If he is as good as you say why is there even discussion of getting rid of him...

If Woods goes we still have Klemmer, Tolman, Fualalo, To'omaga, Tualau, Ogden, Elliott (LOL) that can all play in the frontrow. We also have potential recruits like Hipgrave that could come in...overall it's a solid enough group of players to work with, Pay just need to get pre season right so they're fit and firing because he absolutely fucked it up this season imo.
Klemmer yes. Fualalo is ok. Tolman Elliott are ok. Rest are rubbish. We lose Woods then our pack all of sudden becomes very small. Very bad idea if we release Woods unless we replace him with somone just as good. We need to keep Klemmer Woods Jackson RFM Fualalo Martin. Id also like to keep Tolman and Elliott thats a good pack of forwards and bench.

Since Tolman is on decent money his the first id release while keeping the others. By releasing Tolman and Mbye that should be enough to sign a marquee half; which is the single 1 position that needs fixing more than anything else.

We can't sign anyone, only players on low or minimum wages. So yes we do have to move on Woods if we want to even have a remote chance of signing anyone in the next year or two.

How do you know that they aren’t comparable? You can argue both sides of you want. What we know is both signed contracts after playing many representative games. What we do know is the Roosters managed to achieve this despite Pearce being under contract. If you are happy for the club to continue paying players to play against us that is fine too.

Who says the club is shopping him? You can fill the roster with 5 rookies if you wish. Paying freight hurts you in the long term as you still need to replace that player in your top 30

How could you forget, we also have Dean Pay’s MVP in Clay Priest to cover frontrow if Woods leaves

Woods will be Dynamite at Newcastle (Start talking this us as much as possible as it may help our chances of offloading him)!
He will look extra better with a proper fb in ponga sniffing around and supporting his offloads.
He’s on 750k
We are getting half of that in performance

I’m not saying I’m happy about paying players to play against us and I’m not sure how you managed twist that into your thinking. The only thing they have in common is they are under contract and the Knights were interested in them everything else is different. They play different positions and halfbacks are more sought after especially rep ones, there was several clubs interested in Pearce and we don’t know any contract amounts or how of that was on the cap. It’s not as clear cut as you think.

You know, I just don't think that is a good pack of forwards. I'm OK with woods and Klemmer but frankly the rest just aren't doing the job that is required. An ideal forward pack needs a tight 3 that has at least one of them with a good offload, a sharp hooker who can pick when to pass and when to run and do both well, with the ability to kick and the backrowers need to be strong, linebreaking, offloading types. When you look at who we have at the moment we are missing the hooker, a lock with an offload and backrowers with strength, speed and an offload. RFM is at best OK and Martin is less than that. One of those two needs to be a Cordner/Pangai/Yeo/Frizelle/Graham/Arrow etc type that can hit defence out wide and put our centre through a gap. Neither RFM nor Martin can do that and they are both in their mid 20's now.

Individually, we have reasonable players in the pack - it's just that they don't work well together. We have probably 4 battering rams, one offloader, a DH and a couple of blokes who are OK at reggies level but a long way short of good at FG level. When a centre comes on as DH and adds spark you know your pack is ordinary.

The sooner we get rid of him and everyone else we can in a fire sale, the better...

I'd rather field a reserve grade team each week than the high priced chumps who were horrible signings or re-signings from the get go.

Tolman should be next to leave as once he plays again, someone will see value in getting his defence in their team.

And then we can all pray that Foran spontaneously combusts like one of the drummers from Spinal Tap.

Is someone really sticking up for woods when we have an Aussie rep coming off the bench. That Renouf kid hasn’t even played 20 mins has he? I’d rather watch him make mistakes and learn then watch woods do it. Quite a bit of salary difference also we don’t need to replace woods we have enough props going around to get through the season.

Getting out of Woods massive deal would be awesome for the club if we aren’t paying much of it. The aim should be to have everything cleared for 2020 though sadly Foran is going no where. Still mind boggling that we paid a million a season for him when he hadn’t played any games the two seasons before because of a variety of reasons and no one else was chasing him. Des has given him this contract to thank him for the titles they won together at manly. Disgraceful
