top gun maverick is the best movie I’ve seen in the cinema since man of steel back in 2013. The cinematography was second to none, wokeism was like nowhere to be found besides the cringey introduction of this tiny female leading her two huge men around a bar and then making the “best of the best” fighter pilots (completely fiction but whatever this is Hollywood). Other than that though it’s literally the first movie where the woke garbage is not forced into your face. And look how much money it’s made. The original top gun was a great movie but for the sequel to make a billion dollars, it just shows people are sick of the activist movies and want good old fashioned entertainment again where they can kick back, have a testosterone boost and enjoy the 2 hours forgetting about real life for a bit.
The flying scenes were second to none, you at times feel like you’re actually flying with the boys.
Also Val Kilmer while a small role really kept the vibes from the first movie going and was great seeing him on screen and liked in a way they wrote in his real world health issue. Into the film and made it that much more depressing.

9/10
Rarely go to the cinema these days like most of us but the mission scene full blare at the cinema is something i won't forget, the vibration went from my ankles to my balls to my chest it was fcking exhilarating

Whatever you do, dont watch End Of The Road ( Queen Latifa ) movie. Cliche dribble so poorly executed turned it off after 20 mins.

All Quiet on the Western Front came out on Netflix today. Have already watched it, will watch it again. It has been a long time since I read the book so I'm sketchy on the details, but the movie is very faithful to the themes and message of the original book. This is the book that was banned and burned by Hitler and Co when they got into power, because it tells the truth about war. It paints a picture of the glorification of war that inevitably goes on, contrasted with the cold hard dirty bloody reality of war.

Absolutely brilliant watch, and with what Putin and Co are perpetrating in Ukraine at the moment, a timely reminder of what exactly political leaders who have an oversized ego and want to play wargames sentence hundreds of thousands of people to.

Been watching westerns of late. Anything with Paul Newman or Robert Redford. Ideally both together

He's pretty much the most successful actor in the world right now and I have absolutely no clue how.
I think I can understand it. he has swapped one branch of show biz (WWE) for another (Hollywood), and he is applying the lessons he learnt at the first branch to his work at the second. Both businesses rely heavily on brand recognition, and both apply their resources to get their hand picked performers "over" with the audience. Rock might be a total jerk in real life (I dunno, I've never met him), but he comes across as a bloke you could have a beer with.

So you're not one of the MILLIONS (and millions) of the Rock's fans?
Only movie of his I love is Walking Tall.

It's one of his first moves before his head turned into a hot air balloon lol

Two new ones on Netflix.
Stranger - Joel Egerton, its the story behind the capture of Daniel Morcombe's killer the sick fuck.I did not know how this all went down, it was fascinating the sting undertaken by several undercover cops in W.A to get this bastard to confess and identify locations etc.Killer was played by an English actor Sean Harris served this role well, very creepy and believable.
Worth a watch.

2.The Good Nurse - Jessica Chastain a terrific actress(also very gorgeous)leads as the title character.Storyline revolves around a nurse who is a serial killer and befriends Jessica's character..a slow burn flick as they say but again good viewing imo.
I used to watch a lot of porn mark... you know amputee porn people with no arms and no fucking legs ..... I don't know what it is about you mark but you remind me of an amputee.
.
That line in the movie had me in fucking tears

Is that the movie the Morcombe's asked them not to use Daniel's name to promote the film & they continued to do so.

I get that and he's probably one of the hardest workers in the industry but it's still hard to understand his popularity. He's probably the only out and out movie star today and is approaching billionaire level wealth yet seeing him in any movie is a turn off for me..maybe I just don't like his feel good kid crap :tearsofjoy:

The director or producer claim they never did promote it that way? idk about this either way but they did approach the Morecombes to tell them about the movie, they weren't too happy I believe.

Watching the movie though I had no clue that it was even based on true events. The internet confirms it is so it's a mute point I guess but imo not at all distasteful.
