I'm wondering if I should watch this when it comes out, or if I should wait for the next until John Wick 13 comes out so I can watch the next 10 John Wick movies back to back.

I really enjoyed the first John Wick movie... but they should have left it as a standalone movie and not pushed for a franchise of films... just not enough there for 4+ films of Keanu Reeves shooting people

that said, there was talk of a spin off TV show based on the 'Continental' hotel with Winston (Ian McShane)... that could have been good

Yeah, the first was kinda fun and fair enough, I'd be upset if someone harmed my dog too, but it's not like the Wick character is complex or deep enough for more moves.

Then again, there's now about 9 movies of Vin Diesel driving cars and growling.

a revenge tale where an arrogant mobster's son bullies a real hard man and awakens the monster In him by killing his dog which was the last gift from his dead wife --> it works... and I liked the use of the 'Baba Yaga' imagery for Wick

but it is just stylised shooting and gun porn thereafter

I enjoyed the first one. The other 2 were alright but they definitely were drawing the concept thin.

The movies are 100% designed to activate basic man endorfins. The same stuff that makes us cheer when Stallone punches a bloke, or when Arnie guns down an army.

It's basic but it works. No real depth to it and definitely not enough to keep going for this many movies. But on the flip side, people watch 10,000 MMA fights without getting tired.

true... and there are plenty of Stallone sort of movies that I have watched and liked and plenty are very formulaic... but they don't even try now and just simply add a number to the odometer of sorts to the film series --> First Blood is a one movie idea (and a good idea) but they made at least 5 Rambo movies, I could understand two Rocky movies with the original going the distance and a sequel being the rematch and Rocky becoming champion but they made 6 plus an additional 2 spinoffs, The Expendables was fun to see so many 80's action stars onscreen together but a trilogy of movies? etc.

UFC is a bit different since it is sport and thus, unscripted and you don't know the result

3 had its moments. But I would have been happy with the first 2.

Yep I deided after JW1(which was ok)to not watch any sequels.
Did I read there is another Equalizer sequel? Again it's run its course(even though I love Denzel).

About to watch The Gray Man new to Netflix, Ryan Gosling is the lead.

fantasy is on the up... for example, the upcoming prequel to "Game of Thrones" -->

"House of the Dragon"

The good thing is that people no longer give me weird looks when I tell them I read fantasy books. Not sure what people used to think, but perhaps they weren't understanding that it was magic, dragons knights etc.

It's among a host of movie franchises that needed to know when to stop but didn't. I won't watch anymore Bourne movies now. Stopped watching fast and furious ones after #2, still watch the Jurassic Park ones despite the storyline almost being the same ideas repeated. But I think creativity is dead now.

some people fail to distinguish between children's/youth fantasy and adult fantasy... and then they watch a scene like this -->

Watched The Gray Man on Netflix. Aka, The Borne Wick 12

Entertaining and worth the watch. But it's pretty much a By the Numbers CIA revenge/save the princess story.

Ryan Gosling is very much an emotionless generic role that could be played by anyone. Chris Evans on the other hand is excellent. They managed to take Captain America and make him one of the most unlikeable characters.

There isn't a real resolution either. It does have an ending that partially wraps things up, but it's very much set up for a sequel and there are a few plot threads they open up (including a key one) that they don't answer.

There is also many parts that are just stupid. They really make no sense.

Switch your brain off and enjoy it as a generic but good action movie.

Was that the Jap guy that played Scorpion in MK?

I love that guy.

I really enjoyed it. Chris Evans was very funny. Ryan Gosling is my favourite current actor.

Watched Prey

Solid movie. Great action, excellent cinematography, and full of quality gore. Definitely the second best Predator movie.

The main actress, Amber Midthunder (from Legion TV series) is perfect for the role. She pulls out an excellent performance.

But the star of the show is the combat. Really good fight scenes and heaps of them. But they're varied enough that it never feels like there's too much violence.

Definitely worth the watch if you have Hulu or another method to watch it.

As a huge Predator fan (seen the first one about 50 plus times since I was a kid) I didn't mind this one. I wasn't keen on the Predator design especially the head but overall I rank it up there with 2. Nothing can or will ever match the first ones brilliance.

Nice touch with the correlation of predator 2 with the pistol Danny Glover was given. I was like that Leonardo DiCaprio meme pointing “Glovers gun” lol

Where the Crawdads Sing

A woman who raised herself in the marshes of the deep South becomes a suspect in the murder of a man she was once involved with.

I never thought I'd be someone who would like a movie set in the past - however this movie proved me wrong. It takes us back to the simpler times of the 50s and 60s in North Carolina USA. A girl who grows up in poverty develops into an independent young lady. She has problems mixing with people and is a social outcast, however her natural beauty gets the attention of 2 young men. One man who is her first love, leaves her to pursue college and doesn't live up to his word of returning to her in the Summer. The second man then pursue's her, however has no desire to be with her, only get one thing out of her.

When the second man is found dead, presumed murdered, Kya becomes the prime suspect, and is put on trial. The movie swings back and fourth between the trial and years leading up to it.

Both the defense lawyer and state who argue their sides to the jury are quit convincing. Without ruining the outcome, the jury reach a verdict, however what really happened is not disclosed until the very end.

Great move that never gets too full or boring.

8/10.

I'm somewhat interested in this. The first impression I got was that it was another boring Notebook style romatic chick movie. But the trailer makes it look a lot more interesting. Seems like an interesting thriller.

Never watched Silence of the Lambs until last night, it was on TV so just rolled with it.

Now I finally get this reference, fucking classic old mate agreed to do that on set.
Never seen Silence of the lambs that’s scarier than the movie.
