Knives Out

A really good whodunit. It's a classic story - an old man (Christopher Plummer) murdered in a huge manour, a bunch of family members all with motive etc.

Some great twists and turns and great characters. Only gripe is that i didn't warm to Daniel Craig's southern drawl (or as one character calls him "Foghorn Leghorn"). He could have done the same thing as a Brit TBH, or maybe a fruity European accent.

8/10.
I hated it.

I wanted my time back.

Vincent Brazil and Roland Flint are the two best assassins in the world - but unknown to each other. These two rival assassins form an uneasy alliance to take down a target, which is backed by dirty Interpol Agents.

Jcvd has always been my favourite b grade action guy, and he's proven that even though most of one's filmography can stink worse than a skunk trapped in Buzz rothfields colon, he can produce the goods when he wants to.
This is one of his better efforts.
Solid acting for a b grade flick, good choreography and a great late movie to watch with some friends.

3/5

@Wahesh this one's right up your alley
WHY ISN'T THIS ON NETFLIX :rage::rage::rage::rage::rage:

Just Go with It

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1564367/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0

On a weekend trip to Hawaii, a plastic surgeon convinces his loyal assistant to pose as his soon-to-be-divorced wife in order to cover up a careless lie he told to his much-younger girlfriend.

I thought with Adam Sandler in it, this movie would be hilarious. I actually fell asleep halfway through it. I found it kind of boring and the acting was very terrible.

The Roommate

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1265990/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_25

When college freshman Sara arrives on campus for the first time, she befriends her roommate, Rebecca, unaware that the girl is becoming dangerously obsessed with her.

I'm not sure how you can expect a 31 year old actress to play a freshman in college. It's your typical daytime tv movie thriller, and it is somewhat predictable. You can feel how Rebecca is becoming obsessed with Sara and just wonder why Sara let's it get to the point it does. If you're after a thriller, it's ok, but not much more.

Joker.

A bit meh. Kind of a poor man's American Psycho (or perhaps Fight Club). So so attempt at a Batman link tbh.

I'd have gone with an 8. It really wasn't what I was expecting of it. I can see where you draw parallels to fight club.

I kind of see it as a mirror on the fact that society creates many problems through cost cutting in things like health care. It actually gives a plausible explanation of why anyone would become a henchman for someone like the joker at a time in history when there is very little reason for the poorest elements of society to be living in absolute poverty and the wealthy get away with paying progressively less tax.

True on those points. I probably should have scored it a bit higher, but I just felt almost a sense of deja vu .. I could have added in Mr Robot as how the film felt at times.

Overall, it was being billed as a masterpiece by many, but I just couldn't feel it... maybe it was just trying too hard.

I enjoyed it but it was also very boring at stages.

Also didn't really see it as American Psycho. The whole drive in American Psycho was that he was basically a psychopath that had these random urges partially stress driven and like a traditional psychopath, he wanted to be caught so he tried to give himself up.

Joker is a tale about a guy who is broken by society and that drives him to become what he is. And the result is a guy who becomes a full on sociopath who no longer cares about anyone.

Joker also brought in the "what ifs". The question over the whole ending being how much of it actually happened and how much was in his own mind.

Definitely wasn't a masterpiece. I think that was driven by conflict more than anything. Shock value. People thought it would result in incels shooting up cinemas and that lead certain people to believe that it was the ultimate troll.

Night Fare

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3889166/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

A night of reunion in Paris goes horribly wrong for two friends when they recklessly decide to mess with the wrong taxi driver, finding themselves on the wrong side of a punishing manhunt.

You can tell they tried to get this movie right, but it gets pretty repetitive pretty quickly. It gets to the point where you wonder how the cabbie knows their next move before they do. Then when the movie finally starts to get interesting, it ends. A for effort.

I thought it was great..I wrote my review before.. I saw it as a comment on society’s neglect of the most vulnerable..and one possible result of that..madness..

I throughly enjoyed it..well more absorbed by it..and yes the ending did open up to what really happened and what was his own imagination..

Just a note on American Psycho..to me I think it was more than just him wanting to get caught..the main drive of the movie was the fact that no one cared less what you did..it was all about appearance..and what you presented..remember the business cards? A comment on the superficial 80s..what you are, rather than who you are..
