Reviewing this for my brother
@The_Chimpster and anyone who is a F&F fan.
Lawman Luke Hobbs and outcast Deckard Shaw form an unlikely alliance when a cyber-genetically enhanced villain threatens the future of humanity.
Alright, being a Fast & Furious nut, there is NO WAY I was going to miss this (which set a Fast & Furious Box Office Record by the way...
https://www.forbes.com/sites/scottm...cruise-suicide-squad-box-office/#b806ae4dddad) - and I LOVED it!
It's got everything bar an actual race. This movie is more focused on the actual action sequence of franchise and has a lot of it. Mind you, there is plenty of car-action in this movie. There are also plenty of smart-ass comedy lines that can keep you laughing as the banter between the 2 characters is played out, and towards the end of the movie, the final showdown in Samoa which has the H&S having to fight the common enemy together is awesome. Basically, it's a 2-on-1 fight, but the '2' are at a disadvantage.
Throughout the movie you'll see plenty of references to other movies - namely:
- The Italian Job (Shaw refers to a Mini Cooper he has for a job he did in Italy)
- The Hitman's Bodyguard - Ryan Reynolds who plays a DSS employee looks remarkably similar to his character in The Hitman's Bodyguard
- Central Intelligence - Kevin Hart makes an appearance in the movie (who appeared alongside DJ in Central Intelligence) and plays the role of a Air Marshall. Quite a funny scene as well
- WWE - DJ's cousin Roman Reigns makes an appearance in the movie as one of his Usos (brothers). In the scene in Samoa, Reigns appears to do a little chant, the same one he does in WWE before delivering his spear. It was funny to see the Rock do the same thing at the same time.
There is also a Samoan Haka that takes places as the final fight beings. This was by far the best action scene in the movie.
You need to really watch this movie with suspension of disbelief and enjoy it for what it is - a mindless action film. If you are going to watch this movie and criticise it for how unrealistic it is, save yourself the trouble - it's clearly for people who enjoy mindless action-comedy.
Highly recommended.
9/10.
