Was just watching an old game of Dean Pay and Jim Dymock, and wondered how the Bulldogs let them go (Super League War). That got me thinking, what over players have we lost, that we have regretted (apart form Thurston).

First, it's my recollection that the dogs did not let them go but rather after they signed for the dogs super league franchise, the NSWRL entered the bidding fray with an almost open cheque book. The NSWRL Parra money on offer was far more than the super league deal and they threatened to sue to have the contracts set aside. In any event the person genuinely let go that has proved to be the worst decision ever is Jonathon Thurston. Certainly an element of the ramifications of the events at Coffs Harbour, but by all accounts more a simple (monumental) misjudgement that Anasta was a better player.

Our player retention was a huge problem. In 2012 GF, we had 0 players left from the 04 team, most other teams would have had2-5. So many great players form the 04 side lost.

Finucane, Sezer & Pritchard in the last few years.

Still can't believe we let Finucane go...absolute brain dead call. In the years we let him go we have played Kasiano, Klemmer and Eastwood at lock, none of which are actually locks. We have now re-signed Eastwood who is probs on the same $$$ as Finucane just to rub it in some more.
