Moses Mbye puts extension talks on hold after Bulldogs first offer

People are saying that he is not worth it? Well he is already better than both of our current halves so what possible bargaining position does this leave us in? If the difference between our offer and their's is 300k than I would give him 2/3 of that = 200k (700k total) and say that other 100k is you showing your love for our club. 700k for a long term playmaker is a starting fee these days and we have blokes like She-rex getting that with no returns, plus salary cap is going up so no big deal really. Sign him up now and use the good news as more motivation for this years premiership tilt. Drawn out discussions don't seem to favor the clubs so lock him up.

Dogs will figure it out, we got a big advantage as we can start to push any untouched cap space and/or 3rd party deals for 2015/16 onto his current contract therefore reducing the impact on our cap (for his services) from 2017 onwards.

mbye seems pretty switched on and level headed and at the end of the day hes only as valuable as somebody is willing to pay - good luck to him with his negotiations

I'd make it 2 year deal with 2 year extension if he develops the way many expect him to

If you were offered 800k by one club and 500k by the dogs you would also ask for more, it's insane not to.

If you remember correctly Hodkinson actually stated that he had been offered a contract at the dogs but it wasn't enough so he defected to Newcastle.

And which club offered him 800k? FFS its all bullshit speculation. And if we pay him 800k now how much will he want in another 3 years ? He is worth 500K now - no more, but of course if he tests his value on the open market he may even get offered 1 million by a desperate club like the Titans.

There are NO quotes from the manager or club, and the quote from Mbye is a few months old, and not directly in relation to current talks.

This is nothing more than bullshit "allegations", and rubbishing, by one eyed Qld fans to get us to pay overs for Mbye.
