Check out this Tuesdays training pictures and I noticed something immediately:

Brown and Cleeland practicing kicks, but also looks like Anderson and Hoppa are kicking as well.

Could this be some genius move by Pay to always have a 5th tackle option up our sleeve, or perhaps allow all players to kick in general play?

We've seen other teams start to touch on this last year, and the more potential kickers in the side, the more opposition are going to have trouble combatting it.

I think it is just part of the overall concentration on basic skills for the players to turn them into footballers rather than robots. If they practice all the skills rather than just their specialisation they can contribute if the team gets caught short at any given time.

Halves, hooker or fullback chiming into red zone should be able to put in attacking kicks to keep opposition guessing

I didn't like that we did that ALL the time. But the biggest problem I had was we only had keeping them in their own red zone in our minds. If we actually would have gone for a try on the last play AND kept them deep it wouldn't have been so bad. But all we did was die with the ball without an attacking option.

Mbye, Lichaa and the Morris boys can chip too.
Bring back the bomb, 50/50 in anybodies language.
Been missing for yonks.

The chip and chase, and grubber has been long missing from the Dogs arsenal for some time.

Having centres like JMoz or Hoppa being able to kick also gives us options in broken play, with Mbye lurking anywhere on the field.

Monty is brilliant in the air, so kicking to his wing should be a logical one at any time.

Remember when Frawley came into first grade and made a few grubbers, everyone lost their mind. What is this repeat set we are seeing?

It was something we were not used to seeing at Belmore for quite some time.

Its going to be interesting to see if the positive vibes continue once we get into the regular season.

Positive signs.

I couldn't take another year of uncontested bombs when we were in our half, and running it if we were close.

A good thing to have in our skill list. A pity we can't train on the ground where we play our home games. It would be beneficial to know the quirks of the field, wind effect, and how the ball runs in the in-goal. Kicking at Belmore doesn't add to our skills a great deal.
