Get over 2002. Every cunt that could afford to do it, was. The same type of infighting that saw off the Hughes was the same shit that seen a former administrator gift the info to the NRL. Lets not forget that without disgruntled employees the NRL would not detect any major breach from any club.

Hughes family built the most successful era of this club along with their uncle Peter Moore and McIntyre.
Also Corey Hughes was dogged of a life membership when he was forced out to Cronulla and the reason cited was that he was still playing, even though shifty was afforded life membership whilst still playing in super league.

It wasnt about greed it was about survival as a stand alone club when the NRL were threatening mergers and relocation. Alot of Sydney clubs are dirty to this day that Dogs survived the merger. The criteria that the Dogs survived on was guaranteed sponsorship revenue and our guarantor was Stardome.

Yes they took paycuts and so did the Storm.. No it wasnt the exact team.

Just like Parra, Sharks and Storm are competing for the spoon?

The players behaviour was at its worst well after the Hughes were gone.

McIntyre was chairman of the board for 23 of 30 years so should we disregard the success of the 80's and 90's too?

It is blindingly obvious the Chairman and the CEO have no knowledge of rugby league. A person who knows rugby league, take for example Wayne Bennet, if you read his books, watch for traits and behaviours to guide their decisions. If the dog's board had any rugby league sense, they would see that the dogs have been going backwards for three years. What the team is not doing is blindingly obvious. Yet at press conferences, Hasler scratches his head and mumbles on about the effort being there and a few mistakes. Next game same old, same old. Mate the dogs should be pummelling the opposition. When Hasler came in he put some needed structure into their game. After that first year I thought to myself, right so far so good, now he will build on that. But NO. As Michael Ennis said this week, they didn't evolve at all. Hasler didn't build on anything. After that first year, player development and playing style went south as did Peter Mulholland (to Canberra's gain and the dog's detriment). Performance on the field slipped every subsequent year and yet the board and the CEO failed to spot it. With the dogs playing rubbish football, so obvious to legends such as Steve Mortimer, Terry Lamb and even Graham Hughes (could this bring about the reconciliation we would all like to see for the good of the dogs?) the board reappoint the coach for 2 more years. What rubbish

Hughes was the manager of the team at Coffs Harbour and his son/nephew was in the side.

It's not me that doesn't get over 2002 it's the rest of the rugby league fan base in the country and that's the problem. That germ McIntyre presided over it and has tainted our club forever. I don't care if he was great for 100 years what he presided over then led to not only our rep being seriously damaged but in the fallout it led to a heap of players coming to the club that may well have won us a comp but destroyed any vestige of us being a family club.

Sherwin wasn't in the NRL. Hughes was. It's exactly the same with Reynolds. Dib told him as soon as he hangs up his boots he will be made a life member. Tell me are the Reynolds family on the radio every day screaming that the club hates them. Has his mother quit her shop job in protest? No. Yet that is what the Hughes family does.

Bullfrog did a great job for us in the time and place he operated and will always be respected for that and I loved watching the Hughes/Mortimers play for us, but don't kid yourself, we were never under any threat of amalgamation because we met all the criteria for retention in spades. It was purely a financial decision designed expand the leagues club empire and they used it as a vehicle to rort the system.

The reason why we retained our team was because there were no rules in place to prevent pay cuts. Now there is so any future teams have to shed players like Storm and Parra did. They were just smart enough to retain the ones that could make a difference. The Sharks had a drug problem not a cap one.

All good but given all but one of them are still on contract how is that going to happen? You seem to think they have no value so why would another club part with its hard earned to sign blokes at $500k - $750k to take them off our books? If they don't then its not bang tedesco money its tedesco's money goes bang.

    It’s no excuse, it’s a fact.
Look at the stats with non-compulsory voting. I still can’t understand how you’re a fan of Dib but hate Castle
