Then why are you upset that posters don't agree with your observation? Some disagree so strongly that they believe the thread shouldn't even have been started.

TK is not a place for shrinking violets, if you can't handle the responses then best not to post.

Nobody else does they just run round him. You can't make 1 big hit and all be forgotten. Does nobody remember the Canberra game. Look at the big picture and want your team to get better not hold on to a big hit he made. Clearly don't watch the game close enough or do you just watch highlights ?

I'm not upset at all. I'm all for a discussion but to delete an ban because of my observation. Is that not the same thing you are saying ?

It's all very well to critique a player but there really needs to be an alternative offered. Anyone who watched yesterday's NSW Cup Game will acknowledge that Sua, Rinakama, Tuala and Wilson at this point in time would be far from an upgrade on Montoya.

The first 3 due to inexperience and unproven ability to handle the mental and physical demands of playing NRL week in week out. It's all very well for them to be capable of playing one game here or there, but every week they simply aren't ready for that intensity.

As the past has shown, whilst he is capable, Wilson is not an upgrade of any substance on Montoya.

Chopping and changing players in the hope that they will succeed is not quality coaching and seems a long way from where Ciraldo and the coaching staff are at in making strategic calls.

totally agree thats really all this thread was meant to be who is in line to replace him in the long run.

I think you need to read the wording of your OP, particularly "finding a replacement for Montoya", from the point of view of the reader.

You have opened a discussion with a conclusion, vis-à-vis "Montoya needs to be replaced". Which makes it hardly a "discussion", at the very best a discussion severely limited by your opening conclusion.

Many responses were always going to dispute the very premise of the thread, that being Montoya doesn't need to be replaced. Hence why many feel that the thread has no merit.

He had a good game but my god is he slow as fuck and almost always a step behind the play :tearsofjoy:

Yea I agree I'm not shit canning the bloke he's just too slow and vulnerable I think. Always a yard or 2 off the pace.

There were 2 Wilsons playing in NSW Cup yesterday.

Hamish Wilson played well in #4 coming off the bench.

The others lost the game for us (Wilson, Sua, Rinikama, Taaffe to a lesser extent).

Blake WIlson looked completely lost in #19 starting the game. 42% tackle efficiency in the game.

Total Tackles: 7
Made: 3
Missed: 4

Sua worse with 33% efficiency and Rinikama not much better at 57%.

I think that's being a bit harsh.
Montoya played out of his skin yesterday and has been consistently good for us this year.
He keeps getting picked even though we have other capable wingers. That must say something!
 
if he stays healthy, there is no way he drops out of the squad this year imo.

he isn't perfect but his yardage game alone is worth it. when he takes that second run off the kick off, its not like he ever bust through or anything but you can tell teams don't like tackling him.

turns 30 before next season and guys like Sua and Rinakama will only be getting better, so who knows where it lands in 2026 but i can't see a scenario where ciraldo drops montoya (apart from him missing games due to injury and someone playing awesome as his replacement )

As much as I love Sua, yeah Rina is ahead.

But Potter has been experimenting with Sua at centre and fullback recently.

Both Sua and Rina match his yardage game already, so great times ahead.
