Were these the photos you showed me at the footy on your phone? Things are looking awesome, kudos to you and Dad for putting the effort in together. Character building and a great way to get that Dad and son vibe going. Keep up the good work, hope that you will have some more photos for the next home game.

Hi,
Track looks amazing (still working my way through the posts).
There is a type of tape that is used in hospitals call micro-pore. Think you can get it at pharmacies. It doesn't really stick to skin, so would be better for covering the tracks when doing stuff near them (so the masking tape doesn't pull the nickel off again).

Great work.

Another photo update. Dad and I made an industrial sector of the town. The buildings are a fire station, blacksmith, garage and timber factory.

The buildings are ready made resin buildings. The firestation is a plastic one that was from a playset owned by a family friend. The pavement was custom made by my dad.
Keep it up bro, reckon it would look smick once completed.

More progress has been made to the layout. Grass has been added to the mountain and a road has been added to the middle. Any parents on here who have brought the thomas trackmaster/tomy range for there kids should recognise it as the tomy roadways road.

Here is how we plan to do the second component of the town centre. I also dug up my old Hornby thomas, that i used to use when i was younger. It has no motor and notice how he has 4 wheels and not 6.

Pretty awesome ... I know someone with a trainset hanging from the ceiling in garage. Needs a lot of TLC but was all hand made (paper mache mountains, balsa wood tunnels through them, full scenery, level crossings, everything). Hasn't been touched in probably 20 years though so will no doubt need a complete redo.

Wiring and everything will need redoing (it's actually powered and has full lighting in houses and stuff). I'll probably get roped into helping if they ever want to redo all the wiring and convert everything to LED.

Not sure on the scale, but I know there is XPT and Flying Scotsman amongst probably 3-5 other engines (plus carriages), and each train is about 20cm long. Pretty sure they are all metal too.

The layout you are describing sounds like fun. I have the hornby thomas Flying scotsman as well man. Most of the earlier hornby models are made of metal. Fun fact: Flying Scotsman is Gordon's brother in Thomas and Friends.
