News Mitch Woods impressing in pre season

Would not be surprised to see Tia end up in the 13 jersey

Defo has the size and attacking ability for it but same as Burto... Does he like to defend? Will be an interesting watch this year.

For now Curran is slippin into the lock role nicely and is looking fitter than ever.

Kurt Mann? Tandem role these two?

Maybe, I hope so but it all depends how Ciro wants to use the bench. Does he bring on Curran at prop and then slip him into lock after Mann goes off for another middle?

All in all i have seen Curran at lock and Salmon playing the Mr fix it role if anything.

It seems Woods has come from nowhere and risen pretty fast. Virtually comes into the lower grades help leads the club to a GF win and a follow up GF appearence and now in the top 30. This kid must be good and one of our best prospects for years.

He is 19 in a couple of months and other greats like Fitler started young. He seems mature and confident. Its good to have a local junior of this calibre ready to be blooded. I reckon he's a born footballer and years ahead and will be playing more than people think.

Yeah 100% agree I have only seen his highlights like most others, it’s a massive jump!
Many fringe players look great in reserves!
The coaching staff I’m sure would have the best idea.
One thing I notice in his highlights he is just not running through players bumping them off and using his strength against weaker opponents like many others at that age!
From what I can see the kid is blessed with vision, not many are, and in his highlights it’s not just a couple of times he does it, it runs for about 5 minutes! Bonus he kicks as well!
Don’t know why the chooks let him go?
Cameron Ciraldo’s biggest headache this year is at 7, sexton and his contract, Tia and everybody’s favourite Hutchinson are the options. Woods is not ready yet by the kennel’s reports.
Yup interesting!!!!!!

Hahaha - Hutch at 7 (again) ....that's gold!!
Sexton first & defs Tia next best .....maybe then O'Neill or (gulp) Hutch ....
Wunderkind Woods ...needs to be ready physically (& mentally/emotionally) - NRL's a huge jump in every sense.
After Woods finds Cup comfortable ...that's a good time to blood him in A grade.

Tia is our next best nrl 7 is he. How do you come to that conclusion?

Well he was the Nsw cup 7 wasn’t he?
if so then I guess he is because Hutchison surely can’t be.

You're thinking of O'Neill Tia was the halfback in Jersey Flegg.
Tia played only 1/2 games in Cup last year.

He has a alot of benny Roberts about him... Watched him dominate in Jersey Flegg last year numerous times but has plenty of Rocks and diamonds about him.

In his debut game in cup he outplayed Joey Oniel ( one many have forgotten about as another option).

CC has options, i think the staff will just play the 7 role by ear this year...

How???
Woods is clearly not ready, yet. Hopefully later in 2025 (doubtful) or 2026.
O'Neill had his chance and hasn't set the world on fire, has he?
And Hutch ....well...no more needs to be said.

Tia smashed the Flegg final (& season generally) ...has an awesome kicking game, great vision, squares up the line and puts others through holes - close and wide. His passing is sublime and he kicks goals. Apart from that he's a damaging runner, tackles hard and is a tough, battle-hardened body ready to rumble.

Is that enough?

Big difference from Flegg to first grade though.

All I'll say is let us hope Sexy stays fit because i think I know who the fill in would be and not likely it's Tia.
CC may have to try and blood him in f.g at some stage this season but would likely ease him into it.
Dunno what that looks like probably off the bench but straight into the 7 debuting I don't see it myself.
If he blitzed Cup from early on then maybe that scenario is a chance.

It’s a very delicate situation.
It’s probably Hutch, it’s a proven fact that young halfbacks cannot win the competition. Daly Cherry-Evans in 2011 and Peter Sterling in 1981 were the last 2 players who did it early on in life.
I see Sexton being there the majority of the year unless we start losing! We lose 3-4 on the trot it’s going to be a blood bath on here!
Then you have Sexton’s contract, if you upset him he will go elsewhere.
7 is definitely CC’s biggest head Fark this year!!!

I would love to see:
Curran in the 13
Mann in the 14
Both have big motors and are versatile.

Not my pick but Salmon will get a bench spot also I feel. I would hope to see a bench of Mann, Sitili & two Props. Salmon is definitely a coach favourite though.

Not a bad thought acually, espescially with the fact we have a fair more few middles this year than last. Also Mann's impact off the bench around tired bodies would cause havoc.

In saying that Salmon has been training really well this pre-season after missing last years through recovery.

I think the trials might throw some headaches around if the bigger bodies fair well but i know one thing, we need fit boys rather than big boys with the amount of energy CC and co demand.
