News Mitch Woods impressing in pre season

The worst thing we can do to woods is throw him in too early.
I also agree to an extent but..
People also said the same about Cleary and they are saying the same about Galvin. I remember being at a seminar with Wayne Bennett speaking and he said if they are good enough to be trusted with a top 30 spot you need to back them on the field. I think it’s more the mental load of such a long season that gets the kids in the end. Most of the good 7’s debuted pretty young

I like Woods, but I'm excited about Tia.

Wouldn't surprise me to see

6. Woods
7. Tia

Down the track.
Yeah it will interesting Tia has come on leaps and bounds in the last 12 months.
He is 2 yrs older then Woods and his body is more developed.
But Woods is pretty special he could play anywhere in the backline.
I like how Curran talked about Woods being vocal and very confident which is what you need in a halfback.
Most people haven't seen Woods short kicking game in time he will be elite.

His short kicks are awesome. Dare I say he will eclipse Shifty's short kicking game if he keeps improving.

Tia for me is a significantly better talent from watching both live. Gut feeling more than anything but he screams NRL quality half.

We'll be spoiled for choice in a couple of months time. Wood, Tia, Olopua plus Burton and Sexton.

I think the season starts with Sexton and if nothing eventuates with his contract extension I think Tia might get a chance. I’m not sure on Tia’s versatility…. Is he strictly a halfback? Is he the kind of player that can be slowly exposed playing as 14?

I see Woods being able to come through as a 14 but I feel he is another year away at least.
