2 year contract and will replace Hayne at fullback. Good signing for their young team.

He was so solid for the rorters this year.
Pretty sure he pulled in some big numbers for me in supercoach also.

Great goalkicker, average fullback these days..

If you go through the list of all NRL fullbacks Gordon would be in the bottom few

Tedesco
Slater
Boyd
RTS
Tom Turbo
Lolohea
Holmes
Inglis
Coote
Ponga
Wighton
Hayne/French

Dufty
Mbye

I thought he was good in support for most of the year with the chooks...
Just his goal kicking ability is enough to throw him a contract just to secure 6points almost everytime.

Sure a good depth signing even though he will probably start for Gold Coast. Hes Still an average fullback these days, and his contract of 250K reflects that..

For a team with no fullback though hes a good signing

He’ll be sorely missed by the Roosters who haven’t a recognised goal kicker for 2018. Maybe they think there will be no great need to convert tries.
In any case it frees up another 250K to add to the 1.15M to have spare after Pearce & Nikorima were released. They did pick up Reece Robinson for about 200K, so the Roosters still have around one million under the cap which could see them in real trouble as they are only allowed to be 5% under the cap.
Like Newcastle, the Roosters need to spend this money before June 30 otherwise they are in breach of NRL salary caps guildlines.
Both teams could be fined.
For both teams sake hopefully they can spend the monies required.

Anyone else thinking the Roosters have suddenly got a little worried with the SeaBirds getting caught over the cap?

Seems strange of them to release him, but then again that does free up $425 million of their cap.

Lol someone ban the troll. He’s a straight swap for Robinson. Anyone who doesn’t think chooks knew he was going when they signed up Robinson is a nuffy

Roosters worried about getting caught due to being over the cap, Is like Parramatta winning the premiership!

Honestly i would still like to see the Titans land another player to play fullback (French would be nice to see) and play Gordon on the wing. Titans centres are pretty average defensively and having some reliable customers on the flanks could help mask some problems imo

Gordon is pretty much a hopoate style FB these days, safe and reliable but not much more. Given our situation having the worst goal kickers in the comp by a long margin, he would have been a handy buy for us until we finally replace ben barba lol

Gordon was going to go to Ballina, his home, after his 1 year extension but since the Titans were willing to offer him 2 years just over the border, he asked for a release and they granted it because he is a good guy.
