Question for Greendick guys, Why is the NRL doing nothing about backended contracts when it is clear they are not able to be handled and are destroying clubs positions? Take a more active role in saving clubs from themselves mate.

On Nine news Andrew Hill stated that the club has 25 players contracted for 2019 - are not shopping Klemmer and Mbye around - and have enough in cap to fill 5 remaining spots. Unable to offer contracts to morris and eastwood.
I haven't watched "Nightly TV news " for years - how many ads and promos for 30 seconds of news? Is it always like that? -

How on earth are we topping up moses sulis contract under the circumstances

And is the club questioning the NRL overs G Sutton and our record with him as ref since Black Friday

I’ll try and provide as much info as possible.
Todd G gave his vision spiel and while he is very engaging, there was really nothing said that we didn’t know.
However, the first question a lady ripped right into him about Sutton and the rest of them, to thunderous applause from the fans. Even Todd G had a smile while she was going off. In essence he supported them. He was asked why the NRL allowed backended contracts and he said that the NRL provided an amount and it was up to clubs to ensure they stayed under that. He pointed the finger without pointing the figure but did say the previous management knew what the figure was going forward into 2018 and 2019, and no amount of spruiking in 2017 was going to alter the number.

The Q & A time was cut short because of his video and presentation. He hightailed out of there as soon as he was finished.

So what was his reply about Sutton

Lynne Anderson gave her speech as the Chair but handed over to Andrew Hill to get into facts.
Andrew said that he would not be drawn into any media speculation of the situation because he thought it was in the Clubs interest to remain silent. He said that he and Andrew Farrar went to NRL HQ when Dean was fined and presented their case, no media scrum, just made the appointment and drove in with no fanfare.
He talked about his pillars that no one was too interested in and then started on the media speculation.

He said that we are cap compliant for 2018, confirmed with the NRL. However at this time, there are 25 players signed for 2019 and NRL rules are you must have 30 in the squad. For next year, Brett and Josh and Eastwood will not be signed. So obviously there are other players who wont be resigned this year. Perhaps someone else can weigh in on that. The 5 vacant spots will likely be emerging talents on minimum salary. As well as the famed backended contracts there are 14 players with ratchet clauses, where their salaries increase proportionate to any salary cap increase. This will likely be an issue in 2020 season. It will be 2021 before we can venture into the open market for any marquee players. They have identified a number of Under 20’s guys who have been earmarked for attention
So it’s going to be a tough few years but we will come out the other side.
The Board has declared that there will never be another ratchet clause on their watch and that any backended contract with a monetary value above $100000 will need Board approval.

He backed him
Of course he would, he's not going to shit on the refs even if they are wrong. It's annoying seeing them be supported when everyone else see's the corruption and it just makes it look dodgy.

Mr I, Andrew Hill acknowledged that there were no profiles of our younger guys on the website and he would look into that as well as the streaming of those guys games onto the website
