Credit to Burton for not wanting to cause a fuss and carry on til this point but considering the amount of player movement around the league where players and clubs break contracts constantly, you can't blame him for finally having had enough..

Burton is class though. He's a cut above most halves and looked better than Luai and was the dominant half in the games they played together last year. That's saying something considering how impressive Luai was.

Too many players are overhyped/overrated in general but I don't think he falls into that category. He'll make a huge impact whenever he puts on the blue and white and will prove what a great signing he is in no time.

I wouldn't even say it's sour grapes from Cleary. There's a chance that come origin time they'll need Burton even If injuries to their halves doesn't push him into the side sooner. Both their halves have been pushing for rep selection, so it's not beyond possible that they'll both get called up this year. It's like expecting someone to give you their spare tyre because you didn't get your flat tyre fixed. You may not need that spare tyre, but maybe you will. Could be the difference between pushing for the top four for them this year.

Ok just to be clear on why Burton is surplus to Penriths needs and let’s just pretend hypothetically that Cleary and Luai are picked in the halves for NSW which is very doubtful both are they will have:

Tyrone May and Jaemen Salmon to cover them!

and in the very unlikely case that both Penrith centres in Crighton and Naden are both selected they will have:

Paul Momirovski and Dean Whare to cover them!
