So Hughes is on $900k and Munster is on $1.1m which is an average of $1m for Melbourne's 2 halves, and they don't seem to be going too bad.

More to the point in a $10m Salary Cap does $100k more or less for a 1/2 or 5/8 really make that much difference, that's 1%, somehow I don't think so.

We never know for certain what anybody gets, but all of the scuttlebutt over the last five years has had Kieran Foran being paid a million dollars per season to play for the Dogs. If this was true then a million per season for Burton looks like a pretty smoky deal for the club.

If he wanted out he wouldn’t notify the club so early. He didn’t have to till next year. It was an obvious call from the club to notify him not to so they can negotiate new terms. Don’t be surprised if a new deal is done before the end of the season cause if I was gus I’d be throwing 900-1m a year for 5 years for him and build the team around him. Not many 6s in the comp who are even close to Burton’s ability and it’s his first full year in the halves in grade. I’m sure with Gus around it’ll all turn out Mickey Mouse

By us telling him not to take the option and go for a big contract shows duty of care to him, another reason for him not to leave.

We were hoping that he outplayed his contract. If he was taking his option then this meant he went poorly. So glad it didn’t come to that.
