Hey guys
I can't help my daughter
Hoping you guys can
Maths question.
An increase in the dimensions of a 3D shape by a factor of Z Will increase the surface area by what factor?

That's all there is to the question

Cube

2 (length) x 2 (width) x 6 (sides) = 24

Scale of 2

4 (length) x 4 (width) x 6 (sides) = 96

96 ÷ 24 = 4 = 2 sqaured

The dimensions of a plane are increased by a factor of M. That is all dimensions are M times bigger. How has the area increased in terms of M?

@CaptainJackson
Is it area X M?

Actually forget that. Plane is 2 dimensional terminology (I'm rusty with mathematical terms)

3 (length) x 3 (width) = 9

Increase by scale of 3

9 (length) x 9 (width) = 81

81 ÷ 9 = 9 (ratio)

9 (ratio) ÷ 3 (scale) = 3

Again 3 squared

Or M squared as per your question
