Nice one Wendog.
Its a shame and a cop out to say it was too expensive and that's why he was left out.
An underrated contributor to that team and deserves to be celebrated.

funnily enough, Scottie Pippen believes himself disrespected by 'The Last Dance' because it highlighted some of his low lights

Longley wasn't even consulted or interviewed

Luc Longley said there were many times Jordan wouldn’t even look at him off the court, maybe that’s got something to do with it.

MJ looked a real douche, all about me kinda guy...doesn't include Luc in the doco and then says he regrets that and he'd def be in his team.

Why not present an accurate doco including all the guys who contributed to the Bulls 3 peat success.

Turns out none of the guys thought that highly of MJ as a good human and loved Luc for what he contributed.

A better legacy.

it's complicated when it comes to Michael Jordan... the NBA in the 1970's was competitive and there were some great players (eg. Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, Elvin Hayes, an older Wilt Chamberlain etc.) but it wasn't popular... playoff games were not even shown live

but then came a united league with the ABA merger, and a great new generation of players in the 1980's with Magic Johnson and his Lakers and Larry Bird's Celtics dominating the decade and saving the league... great teams, great players, dynasties, great playoff games etc.

and since the rest of the world started catching up to the US (ie. Croatia, Russia, Serbia, Lithuania etc.), the NBA decided to send a fully fledged NBA, star studded roster for the 1992 Olympics... the Dream Team... and its best player was a recent two time champion, Michael Jordan... and if Magic & Bird saved the NBA, Jordan made it global

Jordan was that famous, that in demand, it is hard to comprehend now... but I think this one fact shows just how big Jordan was --> in the finals vs the Jazz in his last season with the Bulls, games had 30+ million TV viewers... 25 years later with a comparable player in terms of greatness competing (ie. LeBron James), viewership was less than 10 million for every finals games and there are plenty more people living in the USA now

Jordan was a well cultivated, media savvy pop culture phenomenon - Nike's became cool, the jumpman Air Jordan logo, the movies, 'Be like Mike', the sponsorships, the Michael Jackson song 'Jam' etc... 'The Last Dance' is just the latest piece in the Jordan image -->

the Chicago Bulls prior to the drafting of Jordan were thrown under the bus... literally referred to as the "Travelling Chicago Cocaine Circus"... his ex-wife barely mentioned (if at all)... his kids are barely mentioned... his gambling glossed over as simply his competitive drive... his bullying of Toni Kukoč a response to his GM's behaviour and nothing personal at Kukoč... Isiah Thomas is an a*+#hole and disassociates himself from Thomas being left off the Dream Team... that he did not have an option to come back for the 1999 season and defend their crown etc.

in view of the above, Luc Longley does not matter to American crowds

It wasn't bad but I can see why he was mainly left out of The Last Dance. He was always a pretty boring player and personality. He admitted that much himself. When you have Rodman dressing in drag and fucking pornstars then obviously they'll focus on that. Haha.

The Bulls had two different committees at centre in both three-peats, so Longley was never a huge part of the team despite being a starter. Still, they should have put him in more than they did.

Once thing that killed me about the ABC one is the cringeworthy "expert" they had from Rolling Stone trying to explain basketball and how the NBA works.

Longley was a great passer and good defender. He was underrated and was important to the triangle system.

Yeah he did his job and was a great passer from the high and low post which is import in the triangle. But there were so many other stories and personalities in that team I can see why he didn't get much air time.

Not sure if you’ve seen the extra with Michael Jordan talking about this Australian Story about Luc Longley - I enjoyed this one too.https://youtu.be/q27fAO1emHM
Yeah I watched it. I felt bad for Longley. Puts himself down too much.

Sadly Luc Longley lacked the intensity according to MJ to even be considered his peer. Jordan was so much better than everyone else and deserves to be remembered that way
