So far our top 30 for 2022 looks like this

Backs
1. Dufty
2. JAC
3. Naden
4. Okunbor
5. Cotric
6. T. Katoa
7. Allan

Forwards
8. Doorey
9. Elliott
10. RFM
11. Hetherington
12. Jackson
13. Seumanufagai
14. Stimson
15. Thompson
16. Topine
17. Waddell

Hookers
18. JMK

Halves
19. Burton
20. Averillo
21. Flanagan
22. Wakeham

Thats 22 out of 30.

I havent added TPJ or Vaughan as nothing has been made official.

If the above two do eventuate that still leaves 6 open spots.

Surely BOO and Schoupp are re-signed?

When you break it up into the above categories (as of now), we have no depth at hooker and we are thin on outside backs (surprisingly)

We have a decent amount of forwards, though i would get rid of atleast 3 of them

What and who do we fill in?

One would hope they do re-sign Schoupp and BOO

Looking at that list, if we do secure TPJ, Vaughan, BOO and Schoupp we really need to find another hooker.

We have 4 halves yet no decent HB which is concerning

There is genuinely no decent hooker or halfback off contract this year.....

I like what I have seen from BOO and i think he and JMK will work OK for next season, until something hopefully comes along.....

Burton walks into the 6 jersey, though we need an experienced 7 to partner him....

I’d skip Vaughan and hope Gould suggests it as well.

We do need experienced players and If it was up to me I’d be pushing for Tyrone Peachey. I hope with Gould we could work with Storm to have Brandon next year as well.

Dufty / Addo Carr / Schoupp / Naden / Cotric
Averillo / Burton
Thompson / Smith / Ava
TPJ / Peachey / Jackson

JMK or BBO / Hetherington / Elliott / RFM

Allan / Katoa / Okunbor / ? alamoti
Doorey / Stimson / Topine / Waddell / ? Patalo
Flanagan / Wakeham /

2 spots left

If we can't get Brandon Smith for next year and no other suitable long term hooking options suddenly become available, I would seriously look at Mitch Rein on a 1 year deal. He is off contract and could take a 1 year deal on the cheap

We desperately need some experience in our spine and I think he has been playing pretty good over the past couple of years

It just worries me that our halves are young and lack organisation skills and I don't want to heap too much expectation and pressure on Burton to be responsible for everything for us from game 1. He needs a capable and solid partner (at the very least) next to him to take pressure off him

Our halfback options are pretty weak and inexperienced with Avo, Wakeham, Flanno and BBO, and although BBO could be our long term 7, he needs time to grow and develop

If Gus could somehow manoeuvre Flanno and Wakeham out, I'd also look at Adam Clune from the Dragons on a short term deal. Again, not our long term 7 but IMO better than what we have for next year

If we had Rein and Clune we have more chance of getting the "basics" right which so far all of our spine hasn't been able to do

Next year we are going to have plenty of strike power all over the park, and we don't want a bumbling and fumbling spine not being able to get us consistently into positions to utilise our strike power

We need to start winning games and I think these 2 guys are better than our current options and would add more to our team for next year

BBO and Topine can both fill in. We do need another specialist unless they are happy with Deitz.

id go all out for mitch rein one year too as ive said many times on this fotrum.
money wont be an issue because itll be reallocated to another 9 in 23 so if we are talking marquee hookers then the space will be there regardless.
if we cant get another 9 we can just keep him going on a casual basis

id throw tree fiddy at him for next year. then work on 23 options yo.

put the rein money toward a marquee hooker + Siemsens money and replace siemsens 400 salary with Matty lees from england on 300 (matty wants to join us Actros said).

Some decent Stop gap nines include Joey Lussick Rein and Havili, though I’m ok with JMK and BBO until we secure a gun 9 for 2023.

Schoupp was signed until end of 2022, but does he get upgraded to top 30 now he has played a few games in 1sts?
