The following hookers are off contract in 2019 (according to Zero Tackle), and would potentially be available for immediate/June 30 transfer to Roosters (if uninjured):
Mitch Rein (29)
Issac Luke (31 - and injured)
Ben Hampton (27)

Billy Walters (25)
Kaysa Pritchard (25)

Michael Lichaa (25)
Billy Brittain (24)
Jazz Tevaga (23)
Kawl Lawton (23)
Zac Woolford (22)
Wayde Egan (22)
Jacob Liddle (22)
Harry Grant (21)
Manase Fainu (20)

Bold above = older than Lichaa
Italic above = same age (roughly)
*Left out Brailey brother and Robson*

You'd think whoever they decide to bring over, will eventually replace Jake Friend longterm (29 and only signed till end of 2020).

So why would they bother with Lichaa, when that entire list above are better than him?

Of the above I reckon Roosters would make a serious play for: Fainu, Liddle, Egan, Lawton, Woolford.

They'll throw the bank at them and offer a starting spot for 2019 whilst Friend is injured, then when Friend is back bench spot until he retires. That'll give whoever they sign 12 months with Jake Friend under their wing.

If anyone I'd say Fainu, Egan or Woolford would jump at the chance as all are stuck behind others at their respective clubs.
I would take Billy.B out of that bunch

On another note... LOL: http://www.thechookpen.com.au/vb5/f...ussion/782304-roosters-chasing-michael-lichaa

Their fanbase are warm to the idea. I honestly don't think a single one has seen him play.... EVER.
"...his service would be a lot better than Radleys..." :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:
"He is 5x the hooker of previous back ups we have signed eg Mcilwrick , Baptiste...def the best second hooker we would have had for a while":tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

At least there's one with some sense
"He can't pass right to left, & he can't pass left to right. Other than that he's great."

Sydney Roosters will not pursue Bulldogs hooker Michael Lichaa amid injuries

May 09, 2019

The Sydney Roosters have called off the search for a back-up hooker, preferring to leave the role to Victor Radley and youngster Sam Verrills until co-captain Jake Friend returns from his ruptured bicep.

The Roosters seriously considered signing a number of players to replace Friend, including out-of-favour Canterbury No.9 Michael Lichaa.

However the reigning premiers have since changed this stance to place faith in the club’s rising talent like Radley and Verrills.

Veteran utility Mitchell Aubusson also has the ability to fill in at hooker if the Roosters require due to injury or form.

But for the most part the Tricolours plan to use Radley at starting hooker until Friend returns from his bicep injury in approximately four months.

The Roosters will also give Verrills more game time following his promising NRL debut against the Melbourne Storm in round 6.

The Avalon Bulldogs and Mona Vale Raiders junior came off the bench and made eight tackles in a thrilling extra-time victory over the Storm.

Verrills is highly rated and respected within the Roosters system and it’s only a matter of time before he receives another chance to impress at NRL level.

Radley will start at hooker in Sunday’s blockbuster clash against the in-form Canberra Raiders during the NRL’s Magic Round at Suncorp Stadium.

BULLDOGS WANT LICHAA GONE

The Bulldogs are looking to offload specialist hooker Michael Lichaa for next season and gamble on utility Jeremy Marshall-King in the No.9 jumper.

Lichaa has been with the Bulldogs for four seasons after debuting for Cronulla but has never really lived up to his early hype.

The Bulldogs have told him he is free to explore his options and believe Marshall-King - the younger brother of glamour boy Benji Marshall - could be a more viable alternative at hooker.

But it is something of a risk, as Marshall-King has played most of his football in the halves and has only filled in at hooker on occasion in his one season at Belmore.

Michael Lichaa is on the outer at the Bulldogs. (AAP)

From Ennis to Cook to Lichaa to JMK. Dear me lol

I'm at the point where anyone in our top 30 that isn't JMK or Lichaa would be a better choice.
