As i said previously...him & his manager were going to highest bidder. At the end of the day he got $200k overs for going to canberra given his past performances. Good luck to him & great news that we aren't doing the overs trick anymore

Groucho Marx - “I wouldn’t want to belong to any club that would have me as a member”

The Kennell - We don’t want any player at our club that’s dumb enough to want to live in Canberra

Whatever the reason, a good prop was available and he's not coming to us. That's just a reality.
May was the obvious miss. The others (AFB, Utoikamanu) went to better teams and Thompson overrated (going to Raider on 200k overs), unless I'm missing someone. Horse we should of went hard for before he fixed his relationship up with Ricky.

NRL news: League great's 'crazy' admission about Leo Thompson as Knights star closes in on $3.2m move (yahoo.com)

And while the reported $800,000 per season, four-year deal is a lot of money for a prop, NRL great James Graham says he believes it represents a great piece of business for the Raiders.

"I think he's the hottest one on the market," Graham said on The Bye Round. "It definitely seems like it's halfbacks and then front-rowers for players who will be paid the most. I think for a guy like Leo Thompson - and this sounds strange - but he is probably worth more because he doesn't play Origin."

Graham compared Thompson to some of the best props in the game who are all on deals worth more than $800,000 per season, such as Addin Fonua-Blake, Payne Haas, Joseph Tapine and Tino Fa'asuamaleaui. And the former England international says based on Thompson's age and career trajectory, he believes the 24-year-old can cement himself among the game's elite middle forwards.

James Graham says Leo Thompson deal could be a 'steal'
"As crazy as this might sound, that 800k per year compared to [Addin] Fonua-Blake, [Payne] Haas, [Joseph] Tapine and the Tino [Fa'asuamaleaui] types, who are on anywhere between 900 and $1.1 million ... with his best football ahead of him and if he can get into the top of the props category, that 800k could look like a steal," Graham added. "It sounds insane and especially back from when I was playing and even to verbalise it. People will be listening and thinking 'a bargain for 800k, come on mate'. But when you draw comparisons - he's still got that in his locker."

Agreed. They seemingly have alot staked on the puhulu boy if we end up snagging him

Come on mate
Hey, I just saw this & thought they were interesting comments in comparison to how people on the Kennel felt. I only saw a little bit of Thompson & I have to admit I liked what I saw. But with highlights, most NRL players can have a good highlights video.

Seems excessive yet could be master stroke. Next couple years will determine the outcome. Thommo coming into peak age so regardless they will get hes best years

I was just quoting what Graham said lol

I like ur positivity.
His numbers are very impressive and scores highly in every off the ball stat. Defensively he's also one of our best and from what I've been told is also the strongest wrestler at the club. If not for his injury setbacks he would've already played at least an extra season and a half by now and been more established than Thompson imo.

Fair reading that. Just need him to be a little more dominant with ball in hand. Actually punch through defensive line a bit more

I walked past a car yard and they were selling a fully sick VK Brockadore for $1.2 million. Nice car but I chose not to buy it because I can get the equivalent elswhere at a fraction of the price. I like my reality.

It will come, maybe less grunt work or maybe he gets more minutes to better pace himself. We had a bit of success hitting him near the line but didn't do it anywhere near enough across the whole season.

Averages 34 mins 9 hit ups for 82.6m 1.1TB, 21.2 tackles 1.1 missed, 2 offloads & line breaks for the season, no LBAs BUT 10 errors & 12 penalties this season which is almost an error or penalty a game - far too much.
