$350k a year isn't bad for a Canterbury Cup player.

Better than Montoya or Holland.
350 is the sort of money you pay a genuine first grader who isn't a rep player.
And what's more, why pay it if he isn't flushed with offers, which he isn't. Otherwise why the article 'I wants a contract' two weeks back.

And why you have to throw up Holland?
Who mind you, was a 450k player who earnt 500 this year.

Exacatly. If Holland was $450k then Lafai at $350 is a bargain.

$350 for a back up centre is about right these days.

I wouldn't even want Lafai re-signed for the 105-110k minimum.. He shouldn't have been signed in the first place. Don't take up squad spots on proven duds.

Disagree, I think Nasheed is right here - $350k is a non-rep first grader.
its too much to spend on someone who's primary purpose is to play Canterbury Cup unless theres an injury.
For an experienced FG, ex-international player with 150+ games experience, I don't think that $350K is that much.

Rookies with no FG experience on absolute minimum get about $130K - $150K.

Whether Lafai is worth that is debatable.

But if Holland was on $450K, and I think Lafai is better than Holland, so at $100K less he is a bargain.

Nasheed here,
I'm so mad.

Got Reliable word that Tim Lafai has been tabled a one year deal @ 350 next year.

What why and how?

That's too much for old backup. I doubt anyone's fighting for his signature.
Ruined my day.

We only have cash for one marquee signing atm.
$350 OK but as long as there aren't any further zeros on the contract.

I get what you're saying but a) I don't believe Holland was getting that much. B) just because bulldogs overspend on players, doesn't mean they are worth that or its good practice.

Lafai has shown time and time again that he is a huge defensive liability.

$350k is a hell of a lot more than what the Roosters are paying Josh Morris.
Lafai is shit, Josh Morris is great.
Seriously if the club is going to pay Lafai $350k for next season I might go on a shooting rampage at club HQ.

To be honest I have no idea what what Morris is on.

I stopped caring when he left.

I was responding to Nasheed saying Holland was on $450K.

If I had the choice of the 2, I would take Lafai at $350K over Holland at $450K anytime.

If Morris is on less than $350K, then yes, Lafai is extremely overpriced.

For a start Holland wouldn't be on half of what Nasheed says.

Brett Morris went to the Roosters on NRL minimum. But they bumped him up.
The Morris boys would be getting high 200s but that's it.

But seriously the club would have rocks in the head to pay Lafai $350k a season.

I know exactly what Holland was on.
Ur one -400
Yr two - 450
Yr three- 500

Considering Newcastle threw him a 450 a year offer, why would you honestly doubt that!?

Mate that's is the same money that Hopoate is on (i.e $1.35 over 3 years)
Not even our club is stupud enough to pay a fringe 1st grader that type of money.

How do you reconcile your logic (which I get if you I only look at hindsight) with the Newcastle offer?
Holland is loyal, extremely loyal, but there's no way he would have signed with the dogs at 200 a year over his home town/ childhood team for 450 a year in the peak of his earning power. Remember he was 25 at least deal.
It's amazing he chose the bulldogs considering his heart is in singleton. Credit to who he is.

You cant use Hollands $450k to justify signing Lafai for $350k lol. Holland at anything more than the minimum is a sin.

I wasn't using it to justify it.

I was just comparing the two as to which was better value for money.

Fair enough, Lafai for $350k is terrible tho. Maybe better value than Holland but If no one is going for him, you sign him for minimum.
