The Storm and Roosters had us on the back foot, a big ask for our first two games, getting our rep players to lift might help but we need the desperation from the entire seventeen.
Getting the urgency and concentration balance will come.

True, but the Tigers had the opposite problem to us. They could score from all over the park but couldn't defend. Cleary has spent the past 6 months working on their defence and they have tightened up. funnily enough though they aren't scoring many points.

At this time of the year teams make a lot of mistakes in attack and in both their games the opp has done that which has kept the games tight. I can't see the Tigers defending like this for too long. Eventually they will wear out and without a good attack they will end up falling away.

We've been working on our attack and it has improved and will get better. Deano is trying to find the right formula to balance our forwards and once he gets the right mix our defence will improve as well.
Let’s hope so, but the way I see it, defence is an attitude and you can’t train attitude, it needs to be bought into or naturally occurring.

I think Pay is absolutely the right choice in coach & deserves every chance to make his mark and set up a roster he can call his own, but he also needs to flex his muscle in some key areas of people management with what he has available to him.

Everyone saw this coming at the start of season with the lack of trial games for our first graders and a weak bench. Subtle changes are needed while retaining the core of the team.

Our timing is off, the guys dont run onto the ball full steam, no one pushes up to support therefore giving the defense something else to think about and take the attention off the ball carrier, and when we have both Tolman and Elliott on at the same time there is no go forward. Elliott looks like he is running on the spot and always gets smashed.

Elliot never stood out in the lower grades and, opinion only, has only had one fg where he went well. Supposedly a very "enthusiastic" trainer.

Although we are only 2 weeks in, I think a lot of you have gone into the season with the wrong expectations.

This is a rebuilding year.

Next year will also be a rebuilding year.

2020 is the year we will give it a crack.

So stop thinking anything is going to happen this year, watch the footy and take it as it comes.

For the millionth time, WE DONT HAVE THE ROSTER so don’t expect miracles.

The ISM pack (including Eastwood) ran hard with purpose and defence was hard hitting and good line speed

Nu was great out of dummy half and Olive is ready for first grade

You give that kid space (like J Moz has been getting) and he will finish them
Josh struggles to beat any defender these days, it's depressing. Moses makes a great break and throws an even better ball to Josh in space yet he can't even trouble the first defender.

Your trying to make it black and white and claiming its as easy as just fix it. But this is not the reality mate. You cant just fix something in the space of a few days.
I think we all just need to take a step back and try and be a little more realistic.
All the bulldogs fans, well most of us, were very optimistic about this year, but most non fans have us finishing 13-14th. So losing our first two games against the two competition heavyweights who seem to have a salary cap in the vacinity of $12-13 mil, is not such a big deal.
We have a new fb, a new half, different props, a new backrower and lock, and a new look bench. Add to this a new coach, and its obvious all of the these things will need some time to stick.
We also came up against a quality team that was really hurting after last weeks shock loss. It was always going to be a very tough game. I much rather play a team after a win then a loss!!
Not the fact that we lost but we got belted attitude is shit

Tigers didn’t use it as an excuse and they have used less of the cap than we have

Apparently we were going to hurt teams on the field win lose or draw doesn’t seem like that’s happening either

Hopefully a glitch and we will click into gear

Not sure what's going on at the club, but it comes across like the players are just going through the motions and are really unenthusiastic about playing.

Note, not al but the majority.

Foran, Mbye, and a few others seem up for playing, but the forwards seem like they'd rather be anywhere but playing football.

...

That brings me to momentum. We lack it badly. Foran races across field and tries to spark something, then Jackson, Hoppa, or Frawley get the ball and all momentum is lost.

Or instead of going to RFM/Morris's side where there's a second rower playing on the wing, instead we go back to Frawleys side, who completely stifles attack.

Then there's the forward pack who walk up to the line. Run the bastard off the back fence!!!

It's almost like Kas and Graham left, and we lost our balls.

I get Pay's a new coach, but this is stuff that SHOULD have been sorted with 2 full strength sides in the off season. By Round 1 there should have been absolute confidence in the person playing alongside Foran.

...

After listening to tonights press conference, once again "its not good enough, we need to be better", but that was said last week.

Pay needs to start working cracking the whip. If somethings not good enough last week, then you damn well fix it during the week so the same problem doesn't rear it's ugly head the following game.

I honestly feel like Pay could be a little "everyones friend" rather than "everyones boss".

...

We need to start fixing these problems and fast. Any good coach spots problems from that weeks game and rectifies them the following.
Maybe the eels and dogs are using the same batches of party drugs lol

The first game showed a bit of promise but last week we looked like last year. If there was a stat for standing aimlessly in the ruck and getting in the way, Tolman would be No 1 every year. Fualalo needs to commit to tackles - he looks soft. Foran was one of our better players but when we had the ball for all those repeat sets, he didn't take control. He should've played first receiver and guided us better. Moses and RFM are going OK. Still hoping for a miracle....
